10 month old having nws for up 1hr +
« on: October 06, 2013, 06:56:11 am »
Our 10 month old has been having night wakening's for up to 1-2hrs for the past week. She doesn't usually sleep through but does do 4-5hr stretches with 1-2 wake ups. She's currently teething and i can see one of her top front teeth just below the gum.

She usually does a 3hr A time then a 30-1hr nap then a 3.5hr A time then a 1.5hr nap and then bedtime 3.5-4hrs after last nap.

Friday for example she did:

6.30am wake up.
9.30am - 10.10am nap.
1.45pm - 3.15pm nap
7.00pm - bedtime.

She then woke around 7.15pm and was standing up wide awake babbling, my OH then sat with her in her room until she settled around 8ish, she then woke 15mins later wide awake, i then brought her downstairs as she shares a room with her sister who's 2.5 and still wakes lol. She then fell asleep at 9.15pm.

Yesterday she did:

7.00am wake up.
9.45am - 11-20am nap
2.25pm - 3.10pm nap
6.50pm - bedtime.

She then woke at 7.30pm and was awake til 9.30pm but then slept til 6.20am with just the one wake up at 2.30am.

any ideas? could it be that she's overtired? x

She's been grumpy since she woke at 6.20 this morning so was back in bed by 8.45am..

Hi there!

Hmmmmm...  If she's just awake and babbling, then I'm thinking she needs more A time during the day.  It looks like she's treating bt like a CN and then is awake afterwards.  If she was OT, then she would probably be fussy and crying, etc.  do you think you could push her first A out a bit?  At 10 mo, 3 hrs is a bit short.

Thanks for the reply  :)

She's not normally asleep for her first nap earlier than 3hrs, yest was a one off i think. Will try her with a 3hr 15min A before her 1st nap today.

I remember with our 2.5 year old at this age we we're waking her 30mins after her 1st nap then giving her 2hr max 2nd nap but she was a bad sleeper waking up to 4-5 times per night. Our youngest isa better sleeper and apart from these new long night wake up she doesn't wake much, maybe twice at the most.

Yesterday she had 2 long naps, she normally has 1 short and 1 long. Yest she did:

6.20am up.
8.45 - 10.00am ish. nap
1.35pm - 3.10pm nap.
6.50pm bed.

She then woke at 8.15pm, well she was woke by her sister crying due to a night terror, she was then awake till 9.20pm, had 1 wake up and then up at 7am.

7.00am
10.30 - 11.30am nap
2.30 - 4.00pm nap
8.00pm bed?

Will try and aim for that today? x

I think I would bump out both the first and second As by 15 min so first nap around 10:15 to 11:15 and then second nap around 2:30 to 4:00.  Bt can be around 7:45 or so.  How does that sound?

Hi, i've just seen your reply :-). I did the routine above and had to wake her from both naps and she was asleep for 7.45pm. Hoping we don't have another 1hr NW.x
