I think that sounds like a plan then hon. sounds like that am short nap might actually be UT if she's waking up happy after a relatively short awake time. Waking up unhappy with ability to resettle after a longer awake time sounds overtired but hopefully she will get used to the longer times and stop needing the resettling. keep us posted.

yesterday was amazing. it went like this:
6:30 wake up
10:00 nap until 11:30!!!!!!
3:00 nap until 3:30
7:00 bedtime, asleep around 7:30ish
slept the ENTIRE night until 6:30!
we will see if we can copy yesterday!

So pleased to read you had a good night last night. As I was reading this:

i think she suddenly needs a huge jump in A time- closer to 4 hr- but she just gets so tired and cranky much earlier

I had a thought - does she have a mid-morning snack at all? When my DD was about this age, she started exhibiting tired and frustrated signs around the time of her old nap. For a while I thought it was tiredness and then a friend pointed out to me that her DD had a snack at around that time. Since then, if E seems tired or cranky prior to nap time and there is no reason for her to be tired, I offer a snack and it usually picks her up. Do you think this could help at all?

yes i noticed that as well so i give her a snack before naps and a bottle when she wakes up. she also gets very cranky at around 4:30- too eary to be her last bottle before bed, so i started giving her half a bottle then and the rest before bed.

we also repeated the exact same schedule today witht he same results! so we will see how the night goes. she seems very tired and cranky though, maybe she just needs to get used to the schedule? or maybe its bec she is now getting only an 11hr night since she is going to bed later due to bigger A times yet still waking at 6:30

last night was terrible. we had the exact same day as the day before but she did not sleep through the night. instead woke at 11pm wide awake and blabbing, playing etc and did not fall asleep until 2am! (the last hour she was crying)
im so confused?
today was the exact same schedule as the other 2 days, so we will see how the night goes again.
she is so confusing !

Just wanted to give hugs.  Not sure the best advice but thought I'd give you a schedule to compare to if that helps.  Every baby is different, case in point I know most babies do well on 12 hour nights mine does best with 11.  She will nap shorter either way (10 hour night or 11 1/2 hour night)
She is 10 1/2 months
wake/nurse 730am
solids 830am
nap 1030am  1 1/2 hrs
nurse 12pm
solids 1pm
sometimes juice 2pm to keep her going
nap 3pm 1 1/2 hrs
nurse 430pm
solids 6pm
bed/nurse 8pm asleep by 830pm

She is in good spirits most days however things come up (teething, travel, to much activity with cousins, etc)  If she wakes early for naps I usually just nurse her and adjust.  So example if she woke at 11am from first nap...
nurse
solids 12pm
juice 1pm
nap 2pm
nurse 330
if she gets cranky nurse again at 530
always solids at 6
bed/nurse 8/830pm (maybe a little earlier)
Again hugs and hang in there.  We all get very confusing frustrating days.

night was a bit better, woke at around 3:30, back asleep by 4am.
i think bec we are weaning the night feeds cold turkey, she need to be sleep trained all over to fall back asleep. so we will keep doing this hopefully for a few more days. maybe then we can get some sleep!

How are you resettling the night wakings if you aren't feeding? I would stick with it for at least a week hon to really see what the effect is. Particularly if you are stopping the night feeds too as she has alot of adjusting to do. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

night waking are getting shorter, but still putting up such a fight by nap times, more by the 2nd nap-does this mean more or less A time?
