dropping cluster feed
« on: October 07, 2013, 00:55:40 am »
Hi all,

My son is 9 weeks old and has been on the 4 week old schedule for too long, I guess. I just read that I'm not supposed to be doing cluster feeds anymore.  So, how do I drop it?  He goes three hours (at least) between feeds during the day.  I haven't done the dream feed for awhile because it didn't make a difference on how long he slept.  Bedtime is usually around 8 and then he'll sleep til between 5 and 7 (once!).  If I drop the cluster feed, then do I need to start trying the dream feed again?

Thanks!

Hi, if you drop the cluster feed it might be worth trying the DF again for a week or so and seeing if he settles into it. You're getting good nights already and it would not be unusual for an LO of this age to wake at least once or twice a night to feed. If dropping the cluster feed means he wakes more the DF might help hat.

If he doesn't take well to it then I wouldn't worry. Hth x
