Teething or habitual waking or both?
« on: October 08, 2013, 12:42:15 pm »
Hi, my Dd turns one next week and after 10mths of up and down sleeps she started to sleep like a dream...until of course this week when she was teething and I can just about see the tooth coming through now.

She has definitely been in pain because she's been drooling, very cranky etcetera.. So I've been giving her baby nurofen (Ibuprofen) but she has to have something in her tummy before I can give her that so we've been giving her a bottle at 4am and now for 4 nights she's woken up between 4am and 4.20 and refused to settle unless she has some milk.

Her easy is...

Wu - 6.30/7am - bottle

E - cereal 8am

A until 10.30

S anywhere between 1.15hrs to 1.30hrs

A 11.45

E lunch about 12

A until 2.30

S roughly an hour

A 3.30 - bottle

E 6pm

Bath time, bottle and bed around 7

In bed asleep by 7.30

She goes down really well now for all naps I read her a story give her a cuddle and lay her in her cot and walk out and she's fine.

Do I just stick with the 4am bottle until this tooth comes in?
(I tried giving her water this morning but if looks could kill id be dead)

Is it habitual or is she telling me to drop a nap? TOO MANY VARIABLES!! 👎

Also when she has a 4am bottle she doesn't have another at 7 I just give her brekkie instead

Any advice would be awesome xx

Hmmmm....  Is she downing the full bottle at 4 am?  If she's close to cutting that tooth, it should cut through in a few days.  I would consider giving her some milk and pain meds at 4 am.  If you wanted you could dilute the milk a bit so that she may take more in the morning when she wakes.  Once the tooth has cut through I'd try to wean that feed if she does wake (hopefully she STTN for you).

Thanks ladies, yep we do think she's pretty cute!! Not so much at 4am though ;)

Well she did end up sleeping until 6am last night which was awesome, I'm not sure if she'd been cold the past few nights or whether it was simply the tooth. Fingers crossed for a good night tonight.

Thanks so much x
