WU: 6.15/30
Nap:1.15-3:15

Adjust her times by 15 mins per day for 4 days and you're there  :)

I've done this ever since DS was born and it works perfectly!

HH - how far in advance do you need to start?  Four days (4x15=60) ??

LOL do we not have a sticky for this yet?  ;)

Ok, lets use an example of a LO who wakes at 7am, goes to bed at 7pm, and naps once per day at 1pm for 2hrs (you can adjust to your own times  :))

Clock change happens between Sat night and Sun morning, so we start adjusting on a Thursday at nap time, where LO is put down at 1.15pm and woken at 3.15pm (instead of the usual 1-3pm). BT is shifted forward to 7.15pm.

On Friday morning LO is woken at 7.30am (if they wake earlier it's not a problem, but ideally leave them in bed until 7.15/ 7.30am if poss). They go down for nap at 1.30pm and wake at 3.30pm. BT is now moved back to 7.30pm.

On Saturday morning LO is woken at 7.45am (again an earlier WU is not a big deal but try to leave them undisturbed if poss). Nap is at 1.45pm until 3.45pm. BT is at 7.45pm. Parents put the clocks back as usual before going to bed on Saturday night.

On Sunday morning LO is woken at 7am (old 8am time!), put down for nap at 1pm - 3pm, and BT is 7pm (all these are new clock times).

If you are going to get confused, write it down as a daily plan - very useful when LO is taking more than 1 nap per day!

Don't worry too much if LO doesn't adapt exactly to the new times, these are an ideal but anything and everything can throw them out (teething, illness, overstimulation, travel etc.), so remain flexible  :)

For the clocks going forward in Spring, you apply the same process, but this time you start on Thursday morning by waking LO up 15 mins earlier and carry on adjusting the day accordingly.

Hope this is helpful  ;D

Although personally I find at this age 15 mins is too little to affect them and personally we end up just jumping to the new times now. As long as everything else is shifted it sort sit self out in a few days.

I find it all really confusing! Duh  ???

Katleyn doesnt have naps. Her routine is 7.30 - 7.30.

Would it be best to put her to bed an hour later on the Saturday evening and then wake her up at the new 7.30 on the Sunday morning?

Thanks ladies x x x

Mine has a tendency to go an hour THE WRONG WAY when the clocks change. Something in his seasonal body clock goes haywire so I gave up planning how to change it ages ago and just tend to look at what mess we are in at the time and fumble along from there. I spend the entire season trying to get his WU later and just when I do the clocks change again.
Clock change is never worse than molar teething so don't panic ladies :)

I think she means that they don't do anything different up to the clock change, so LOs BT is the same time on Sat as it is on Sun (by the (changed) clock). In practise this may feel like 1hr later to LO.

I prefer to adjust over 4 days up to the new time as DH is not good at adjusting so it helps him. It's also useful for the cat who suddenly wonders why his dinner is 1hr later than usual  ;) DS seems to cope fine so far but I've never really tested him!

We tend to jump by a half hour over the weekend - although as it coincides with the end of half term I'm tempted to just let bedtime slip a bit over the holidays.

We normally do a half hour later on the Saturday, so a 7pm bt becomes 7.30, and then move to the full hour later the next day.

I get the 30 mins later on the Sat, that is kind of what we do but why an hour later on the day? Do you mean his BT moves to 8pm instead of 7pm..is that just for the Sunday?
