7months and waking-EASY change, solids or teeth? Help!
« on: October 13, 2013, 09:35:16 am »
My dd is 7 months and for the last few days nights have become a nightmare! Up until then she was self settling at 7 ,we wake her at 11 for df straight back off until 6.30/7 ish. Recently she's settled ok at 7 but once woken at 11 she's really not settling back to sleep crying on/off until 3.30am! We've medicated but that doesn't help and she cries even harder in our arms like she just wants to be in her cot. She drifts off only to wake screaming again 10 mins later! We're all shattered.

We've been trying wean her for two months but she has only just the last few days started opening her mouth so having more than teaspoon. I've heard this can disrupt sleep? Also we've adjusted her EASY routine and dropped the catnap..another reason? We haven't dropped the dream feed yet as she's still not enough solids, should we? It's so hard knowing what to do but something needs to change! Her routine is as follows:

E 7 bottle
E 8 breakfast
A
S 9.30-11 (goes down a bit earlier if up earlier)
E 11 bottle and solids
A
E 2.00 bottle
S 2.30-4.00 (until 4.30 if really tired)
E 5 solids
A
E 7 bottle
S 7
E 11 bottle (we wake her for this as has never fed in her sleep but has always gone back off easily)

Another thing to note is that she has had back to back colds for nearly six weeks now. Very snotty occasionally making herself sick from coughing! poor thing! Any ideas much appreciated as we're on our knees and keep telling ourselves it's just a phase!

Hugs to you all!  How well is she breathing at night?  I'm thinking that congestion due to colds may be to blame.

Wrt the dream feed, I wouldn't wake her for it as this can contribute to nw's.  if you give a df, try not to wake her up.  To wean her you can either offer less in the df bottle or move the df earlier and earlier.
