Can't get my 4 month old to dream feed-Help!
« on: October 23, 2013, 01:03:27 am »
My little guy will give me around 6 hours his first stretch of sleep--this is usually from 8-2. I was hoping to implement the DF to try and stretch this out a bit but I have had no luck in getting him to do it. I tried it when he was younger and I was BF and I just ended up waking him up and then he was up every 3 hours. So I gave up on it after a few days. Now I am giving him formula so I thought I would try again. I tried to give it to him while he was laying in the crib. I gently parted his lips and got the nipple in, but he would not suck. i moved it around a bit, in and out. Nothing. So i picked him up to see if that would help (he stayed asleep) but no luck. Then I laid him back down and even though he didn't wake up he spit out everything that drizzled into his mouth :( Any tips?? I thought about just waking him up at 10 to feed him, and then just hoping that he starts sleeping 6 hours from there, but I don't know if thats a good idea either. Help! :D

Have you looked here?"How do I implement/drop the dreamfeed?"
Some do well with a DF, some don't. My DS did one for months and it really helped. With DD it never did take, she was just too touchy of a sleeper. I was better off to go to bed with fingers crossed that I would sleep before she woke up again!
