Moved to BGB now struggling with naps for 27 month old
« on: October 24, 2013, 20:46:09 pm »
Hi, I moved my lo to a BGB Sunday + now its taking her up to 50 mins messing around to take her nap everyday. Bed time has been fine + she's slept well in it just not too sure what to do about her naps.
Her routine is
Wake 6.30-7pm
Nap was 1pm-2.30pm ish
Bed around 7.30pm

Was thinking maybe she wasn't tired enough + to push nap slightly later, things were mostly fine before went to bgb although did get at least one day a week she messed around + took longer to get to sleep.x

Hi not sure if her teeth are bothering her now or OT because of naps being later all week + getting shorter or they could be shorter due to teeth.
Last night she had nw at 11pm + 4am + the night before about 5.15am. I did give meds the 2nd time she woke last night.
Not sure what to do about nap time. Yesterday we were out in morning + a little late back so put her dwn at 1.30pm + she was asleep in 10 mins like how she used to. But today had lots of messing around for 30 mins then slept for 1 hr woke + got her to have another 30 mins.x

My DD had a big nap resistance moment at this age and we had a good 2 weeks of messing about at naptime etc. If it were me I would push the nap to 1.30pm but keep BT the same and see if that helps....

Thanks really hope it is a phase she's usually been so good at nap times hate fighting with her over it but I know she still needs her nap. I did it at 1.30pm yesterday + still had fighting + screaming + shouting for 30 mins untill she eventually gives in + took 30 mins again today :-( x

Today she wouldn't nap just lay in her bed chatting for 1.5 hours. Hope its just a phase and not start of 1-0. Put her to bed early so really hope she has a good sleep tonight.xx

Yes she sleeps 10.5 - 11 hrs at night. Occasionally has a nw which I think could be her teeth.x

without a nap 10.5-11 is really low for overnight sleep. I am wondering if she is actually OT and missing her sleep window for naps and might actually need an earlier nap now after reading all this through. can you post the last 2 days (with any NWings so we can take a look)

She sleeps 10.5-11 hours at night with a 1hr 10 to 1hr 30 nap. When she didn't nap yesterday she was asleep by 6.30pm + woke 6.30am this morning so had a good night to make up for it :-)
Gna put her down at 1.30pm for nap today + see if she naps.x

great :)
Maybe the longer night the night before helped her catch up a bit. x

Today my husband put her down at 1.30pm + she eventually fell asleep at 2.45pm. She's quite happy lying in bed just chatting away. He ended up going back up to tell her to sleep + she did quite quick after that!x

well she is young but it is not unheard of for lo's to drop their nap early. You might find it useful to pop on the 1-0 thread to see how other people handle the nap dropping as there are a few ways to approach it...x
