Hey there,

I need some eyes! R is 27m (28m on 8th Nov) and her nights have just completely gone wonky and I'm so tired I can't think straight to be able to
Start working it out iykwim?

Her last few days have looked like this:

NW: 1.15-3.15 (meds) - chatting, moaning
WU: 6.15
Nap: 1.15-2.45 (1.5)
BT: 6.40 (asleep by: 6.50) meds before bed

NW:1st heard @4.05- grizzling. Don't know how long awake for. Not happy and chatty. Meds@4.10 - necessary?
WU:6.15
Nap:1-2.30
BT:6.50 (asleep straight away)

CO: 4.15
WU: 5.20 (OT???) Really big poo discovered when I got her up
Nap:1.15-2.45 (didn't want to go up to bed OT? Asleep within mins of getting into bed
BT:6.30 - out for the count (calpol)

Last night/today so far...

NW: 1.15-3.50 (calpol and calprofen)
WU: 6.35

So factors that may or nay not be significant:

1. Clocks went back 1hour last Sunday
2. Not sure what's going in with her molars - she was cutting them but won't let me look in her mouth so I don't know if that's a contributing factor
3. When she wakes in the night or early - she is not happy
By the sounds of things in the First instance, then she'll chat away, sing etc and after a while she starts to get whinging etc - trying to go back To sleep I would say.

She used to sleep 2h in the day (usually capped)and around 11/11.5
At night. The last few days she's cut down her nap
Her self to 1.5h. She's more than ready for bed. I wondered if it might be developmental - her speech is coming on at a rate of knots re: longer sentences etc

So any thoughts? Pleaaaaassseeee!!!!

*UPDATE*

Today she didn't want to go for her nap - "No mummy, Ruby's not ready" so I thought benefit of the doubt, maybe she needs a later nap time. WRONG!! Why didn't I just trust my instincts especially knowing that she is rubbish at handling OT. Any 1.30 and she screamed and screamed - didnlt want to go to sleep. She wanted me to lay with her. She's slept independently from day one and this only happens when she is OT. I also know when she is so wound up WI/WO is a no go, it just makes the situation worse. Anyway, I sat on her bed and she went off in 5mins - I tried to leave too soon which led to a further meltdown and she eventually went off at 2.10pm. I had to wake her at 3.30 to preserve BT (which was 6.50pm asleep by 7pm). No resistance at all to BT *sigh* what is going on?

It does seem like she's OT but not sure why with your routine  ???  When I don't know what's going on with my DD I am inclined to continue to blame teeth until she has all of them (2 to go here!), and failing that developmental.  Covers all mysteries  :P. At this age I tend to ride things out more than try to fix them, although recently I did move DD's nap later.  That doesn't help you though, sorry!  What if you tried nap earlier?  I know she said she's not ready but IME what a 2yr old says wrt sleep is not always relevant  ::)

What is her normal wake up time? Is 6.15am an hour earlier than normal - that would point to it being the clocks.

Is her nap time always been 1.15pm? With that first 2 hour NW then I would prob have tried earlier than that and let her sleep longer. Is she now OT for her naps at 1.15?

Just a thought. 28 months was a long time ago for us and Olly was never very independent so just a brain storm for you x

Thanks ladies.

Yes her WU was usually between 6.45 & 7.15am. The odd 6.15/6.30am WU but no sunshine on the gro clock until 6.45. Her day used to looked like this:

WU; 6.45-7.15 (as a general rule)
Nap: 1.15-3.15 (capped)
BT: 7pm (alseep by 7.20)

So her WU if she has the ridiculous NW is the same but with 2h or more less NTS and is an hour early if no significant NW with the same DTS - go figure!!!!

Her nap has been at 1.15pm for a little while now. We had a wonky period around 23m when I had to pull the nap back to 12,30 to catch up with OT and then gradually moved it to 1.15pm in 15m increments. I think too think she's OT too and  i was aiming for an earlier nap - as i say, should have stuck with my instinct rather than go with what my 2yr old thought was a good idea  ::) I know I know, I blame trying to juggle too many things and sleep deprivation, makes us all a little nuts I guess. I am now not working for a good few days so at least I can try and get her sorted, bless her. It breaks my heart to see her in such a mess. May be I will shoot for 12.30 nap for a few days and see how that pans out. I just pray I don't end up in the dreaded UT/OT loop.

Thanks again!

Ok so after the nap time shenanigans of yesterday she ended up doing this:

Nap: 2.10-3.30
BT: 6.50 (asleep by 6.55/7pm)

AND she STTN!!!!! Just woken at 6am, happily
Chatting. So, what would you do re: nap - 12.30 to get back on track or 'normal nap' of 1.15pm given she SSTN?

I would still go a bit early as she will need to catch up on the OT a bit x

Oh poo! Went for 12.45 and we're in a mess. She was fine until I put her in her bed. Then she kicked off. No Ruby's not sleeping, Ruby's not sleeping in Ruby's bed!!' I've put her back in bed, done WI/WO a couple of times until she's calm. She's out of bed and I can hear her the otherwise of the door saying not sleeping in Ruby's bed. Don't want to go to sleep. She's talking in a whingy voice as opposed to upset so I've not gone in. I hoping she'll get fed up and go to bed. Now she's asking for a tissue or wipe saying she's got a big bogey!!! She's also saying about the door being locked which it isn't - it's shut as it always is and she's perfectly capable of opening it!!

Is this OT/ should have done nap earlier or an age thing??

Driving me nuts!!!

Omg! Getting worse here! I had to go in as she put on the light and started in the draw which has nappy cream and the like. So went in, putt her in bed and emptied the draw and left. She's the  came Out if her room - so back in and put her in bed - did that a couple of times and now she's properly kicking off - shouting "daddy help(!!)" "Ruby don't want to go too bed" jumping up and down about it and all in a gro- bag - go figure!!! I just don't get it. If she's not been tired before she just lays in bed and chats. Can she really be so OT that this is the result????

Big hugs to you MM - I feel clueless

Don't know if to go in or stay this side  of the door?????

*UPDATE* : well i had to go back in, she got upset. A couple more WI/WO and all
Has gone quiet. Goodness knows if she's asleep
But at least she's not having a Hissy fit!! I'm trying to tell myself that I've done the right thing -remaining firm and consistent but it's just horrid!  I'm scared though to give in and stay with her for where it will lead given she's always been an independent sleeper. Why do I feel like I'm
Abandoning her? :'(

Did she have a nap?

If an earlier nap isn't working then go for a later one! Olly would get like this when he was UT. He was textbook in that when he got like this I tried it 15 mins later and shaved 15 mins off the other end and did this till he dropped his nap.

Might be worth a shot. She eventually gave in at 1.45 and I woke her at 3.30. I put her to bed just now (6.50) and no fuss at all?

I thought later which is why I did 1.30 yesterday I.e 15m later and that was no better. I wondering, depending on how tonight goes, whether I try 12.30. The reason I say that is unlike yesterday she was happy to go up for a nap today, have her nappy done, gro- bag on and be out in bed. The issue only arose when I went to leave the room - then she wanted me to stay with her and when I said no, then she was saying she didnt want to go to bed???

Hugs Hena...we had a nap regression at the exact same age. Try and keep to the routine as much as is possible and see if she works her way through it xx

Thanks ladies, the hugs are much needed and appreciated!

It's come so out of the blue I didn't think it could be anything to with suddenly different sleep needs. The only thing I have considered doing is pulling the nap back to 12.30 just in case OTs playing a part. Or is that a bad idea?
