Waking 30-45 minutes after bedtime
« on: October 13, 2013, 00:51:13 am »
My LO is 4 months old and we just recently transitioned to 3.5 hour EASY.  I don't think she is ready to move to 4 hours yet since getting her stay awake that extra time since we were 3 hours 15 minutes has been hard for her.

In the last 5 days, she has had 3 1.5 hour naps during the day for 3 of those days and the other 2 she had 2 1.5 hour naps and 1 40-45 minute nap.

The last 4 days we have fed her as usual at 7:00, gotten her ready for bed right after and put her to bed.  She was asleep all nights between 7:45-8:15.  Each of those nights she has awoken 30-45 minutes after she went to sleep screaming her head off.  We've watched on the monitor and she doesn't stir prior to that.  She just opens her mouth and starts screaming like she is in a panic.  One of us goes back in and shush-pats her again and 10-20 minutes later she is back to sleep and sleeps until 6:45/7:00 the next morning.

Does anyone have any insight or feedback on this?

She is worrying us!

If my LO is overtired, she ofter wakes around an hour from the time she's gone down for the night and is almost inconsolable... how long is your A before bedtime?

She has a nap 3:45/4:00-5:30.  Then she eats at 5:30.  Bath and bedtime routine around 6:30ish, eat at 7, bed between 7:45-8:15 depending on how long it takes her to eat and burp.  Some nights she has a BM right after that feed and that pushes bedtime a bit because if she goes that late, it takes her awhile.

That's too long of a stretch for her age. At 4 months, I would not be keeping her up anymore than 2hrs so if her last nap ends at 5.30pm, then she should be in bed and asleep by 7.30pm.
So you could give her a feed upon wake up from last nap and then do bath and bedtime routine and a final feed just before bedtime.

I will try to get her in bed earlier, it's hard with dinner.  I try to time that so we eat shortly after her 5:30 feed, but it's hard to feed her and cook at the same time.  Plus, when she eats at 7, she eats quite slowly.

So also started waking earlier in the morning....she was waking at 7 or we woke her at 7, but now she is waking at 6-6:30.  I am not sure if it's hunger or what, she won't take anymore than 4 oz. at the Dream Feed and we tried to up her oz during the day, and she won't eat more than before currently.

So the last 2 days I have made sure to start the bedtime routine by 7:15 so that she is in her crib by 7:30.  Last night, she didn't fall asleep until 8:15 and tonight she fell asleep at 8:00.  Last night, she didn't wake screaming, and it's too early to tell tonight.
