I'm not sure it's actually a problem
« on: November 04, 2013, 21:32:37 pm »
Hi,
Not sure I've actually got a problem but could you have a look at this for me?
Bub is 3weeks this Friday so only little yet. I breast feed one side, he seems to go for 21/2-3hrs no worries. He feeds real fast and good for first 10mins and then more steady for another 5 maybe 7mins or so. He's gained 300g each week for the first two weeks of his life, and had only lost 1% of his birth weight. Generally, he is not awake much longer than his feed - a nappy change and cuddle and he's about ready to crash. He naps pretty good if I get him down on 'his' time, not mine. I'm trying to cluster feed but he takes little at the 2nd feed and again at DF - about 5mins. He wakes around 1-2am, and again around 4ish. This morning he didn't take much at 4 but took a better feed at 5 and slept til 6.45.
So I'm just wondering, am I feeding long enough? Is he about right A time wise (or his naps the best judge of that?)
Third time round, and I still question myself at times!!!
Thanks

Thanks!
It just seems that he's awake, we eat, nappy change and it's almost too long an A time! I think he'd be quite happy if I left him to go to sleep as soon as he ate!
Thanks ladies.

Many LOs are sleepy for the first 6wks or so. I'm sure he'll wake up soon.

There are magic things in your milk to make him sleepy in the early days and weeks ;)

Oh good... mind you having two older brothers in his face the minute he's declared *awake now* surely must help stimulate him!  :o
