3 yr old up at 6 a.m.
« on: November 09, 2013, 12:27:06 pm »
I realize it could be worse and IS for some of you but I'd really like any ideas you girls might have that might possibly help my DD sleep later. She almost never naps these days  so her usual sleep schedule is up around 6-6:30 a.m. and asleep by 7-7:30p.m.  IF she naps it's usually 1:45-3:30 but soooo rare when she does she's asleep by 8-8:30 p.m. Sometimes later but she'll still wake at 6-6:30. I'm thinking she is more than likely getting plenty of sleep so maybe a later bedtime would get her to wake later but I'm nervous to try. The few times I have done later it didn't help her sleep any later but maybe if I did it several days in a row eventually it would???

Hey!

Well firstly, so you fancy swapping??!!?? I'd give my left and probably right arm for a night like that ATM!!!

Joking aside, if your LO doesn't get OT easily and you think she can handle it, it push BT by 30m and keep it there for a week and see what happens. Alternatively, yu could take smaller steps which will better yep you gauge where she's at iykwim? So push BT BT 15mins, hold for 3-5days, then push by another 15m and hold again for 3-5days. Hold the half hour push for another week and see if it makes a difference.

What do you think?

I agree with Hena, I would push it by 15 mins at a time and see if she awakes later. My 3 year old has the same nights as your LO and TBH he just does not seem need to need any more than 11 hours. If you want a later WU then it might be a later BT is the only way. Good Luck!

Same for us: 11 h, the odd 11.5 and the odd 10.5 h.
What I found since he has dropped the nap is a much higher adaptability to bt shift: this summer we were able to shift bt one hour later and wu too (for holidays) and two weeks ago, on Saturday, we were out with friends and he went to bed one 1.5 h later than usual and was up one h later! Never done it before! Usually the odd night late resulted in the same wu. So definitely I would try the shift.

Hi yes i agree with Hena if you could push bt out slowly to offset early wakenings.  Its hard to get the balance as we done this with our 4 yo and can bounce back with a super ew  ::) like 5.30!! Best of luck :)
