7 Weeks Old and still eating every 3 to 2 hours ... round the clock

hi all,

My LO is 7 weeks old today. he has been eating every 3 or 2 hours ... mainly every 2 hours.
he has around 7-12 feeds a day.

he was born 8.4 Lbs at 41 weeks. Currently wights 13 Lbs.  No health issues what so ever.
He has reflux but its getting much better now.

Iv'e tried so hard to put him on a routine but no luck. a day would look like this ... more or less

7 am wake up
eating every 2 to 3 hours
last feed around 9 pm
or 11 pm (depending how he's feeling that day and how bad is his reflux)

wake up to feed at 2 am isn
then around 4 or 5 isn am
then again around 7 amish


HELPPP i can't do this... i need to sleep as i have a 3 year old who is constantly sick with Croup

It's hard I know but it IS normal. Not that it really helps you right now. Is he napping OK during the day? Is his reflux controlled or just 'not as bad'? Have you tried settling him with a soother/paci to try to stretch out those night feeds a little? Although, if sleep is your immediate goal it may be better to just quickly feed and resettle - if you get him back down with soother, he may well be up again hungry half an hour later. But worth a try?

I agree with Anna..it sucks but is totally normal...my DD2 was like that and ate every 2.5/3 h round the clock and nothing settled her otherwise. It was easier to just feed her and pop her in bed then try to resettle (did that once and while she was on my shoulder and I was patting her she latched on to my ear!!!). We never had a proper 3 or 4 h EASY but we did manage a routine of sorts.

Agree with the others - normal and will fade away given time, not that that's easy when you're in the thick of it, though.

Medi is 7 weeks also and She feeds every three hours day and night as well.

Tried the paci, not his thing.. It's food he wants :)
Well, if its normal then be it :) ill just be sleep deprived

Mine were like that. I always said I must have had skim milk in there, lol.

I never got to a 4h easy.  They just couldn't go that long (although nights got longer).

Interestingly, they are both big eaters to this day.

Oh (((hugs))).
I don't have any experience with reflux, sorry.
It is tough when you are tired and wanting sleep. My Little Man WAS like that....he fed every 2 hours round the clock and then stretched to every 2/3 hours round the clock. When you're there in it, it's tiring - but he gradually stretched and stretched his times out, by himself and now does go longer at night (he was even treating us to 12 & 13 hour nights a few wks ago!!!)
