Bye Paci... no Sleep for any one!
« on: November 21, 2013, 18:05:52 pm »
Hi! I have a 25 month old girl, she's always being an Angel baby, and a grate sleeper, but now I need help:

We just took away the pacifier, she used it only for bed time and nap time, but she was really attatched to it. We had a story about how pacifiers were for little babies and she was older now and IF SHE WANTED se could give them away to a little baby who needed it. She did so, picked all her "passis", put them in a gift bag and handed them to a little baby, all by her self... buuuut, night came and so my fears... long story short, it's been 4 nights with no "paci", last night she finally had no problem going to bed and fell asleep really quick, but my problem are the naps! she usually comes from school around 1.00pm, eats a snack and takes a 2hr nap. But this past 2 days she refuses to take the nap without her "paci", so she is very crabby all afternoon, and if we go out, she will whine until she falls asleep, but it's too late for a nap, so I just let her sleep for about 20 minutes so she's not that crabby, and she is tired enough to go to bed at night.
Also, since she's tired and crabby, she refuses to eat as good as she used to after her naps.

Her schedrule
8am WU (this days she woke up at 7am)
1.30pm nap (2hours) then lunch
8pm bed time

Is there anything I can do to go back on track? I know that I can't go back to pacifiers since we already made that decision, but I think she still needs those naps.

An other thing: Since the transition she's waking up at around 4.30am crying, and it's been hard to put her back to sleep (last night it was until 6.30), one night she asked me to sing Rock a by baby (and of course rock her)!!! last night she didn't want me to sing anything... I'm the one going to try to soothe her, because my husband will give up easily and bring her to our bed :( I'm starting to get a little desperate, please help!

Hi there and welcome to TS. Was your LO able to go to sleep without you prior to this? What is your wind down routine for naps and BT?

Are you using any particular technique to help her learn to settle without the paci? Does she have a lovey?
