Cereal at ever meal?
« on: February 06, 2014, 15:11:14 pm »
I'm currently giving solids twice a day. Breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is 2 tablespoons of multi grain cereal and 2 tablespoons of fruit. Lunch I was doibg 1 tablespoon of cereal 2 tbsp veggies and 1 tbsp fruit. Do I need to give the cereal at lunch or should I just do fruits and veggies?

It really depends. I never did cereal at all as a lot of them had hidden dairy and DS2 has CMPI. I offered fruits and veggies at all our meal times and as he progressed a little I just offered him some of what we were having.  We did a mix of BLW and purées so it wasn't always off a spoon - sometimes I just handed him some soft carrot or potato.

Not sure where you are but here in Canada I was surprised to find the recommendations had done a complete 180º from 5 years ago when DD2 started solids....now they say meats/meat alternates first then fruit/veg and cereal only for adding other flavours to (ie a new food you just want to offer a bit of) so I would think you need not offer them at every meal.
