Hi hun it really does sound like discomfrot I would just keep offering meds and see what happens. Although an 11 month old being on one nap could be OT as well. Any reason she is currently on one nap? 12hr day for one nap for an 11month my contribute to some OT, but it does sound like teething.

I also don't think she is overtired. Bcos she is so happy full of energy all the time n she actually got more sleep in total 13.5 hr since on one nap rather than 12hr on 2 nap. Reason for transition was she had been refusing pm nap n it's also getting so close to bedtime. N bedtime is pushed back so late to 2000 but she still wakes up at 0600.
All I can put down to its teething. What do u think?

OH hun I feel you. and I hate to say it is just sometimes the pits for some lo's. My ds did great teething until the 1yr molars and canines all came in at the same time right during his 18M sleep regression. This has been a joyous time for me (insert extreme sarcasm) :) You'll get through it. ((hugs))

I would be careful putting her on just 1 nap at this age and it is quiet possible she's overtired...it could just be teething but it could also be from being overtired. It's true that some babies are ok on 1 nap by at this age but most are not. I also put dd2 on 1 nap at around 11 months and then all sorts of stuff started happening (nap shortened, night wakings and yucky early wake ups) and we went back to 2 naps.

Just my thought :-\

How do I put her back on 2 naps? Should I put her down at a time 4 hr if wakes up at 7am? See how she goes? She has been refusing short catnap in the pm. I can't do bedtime any earlier than 6pm???? What should I do? :-(
She used to sleep at 1030 when wake up at 0630.

From memory, you were doing the long am/short pm nap? You could probably try limiting her morning nap to 1.5hrs and try and APOP the catnap. We did the short am/long pm nap... did you try that at all?

Yah I was on long am and short pm. Tried the other way around the other day it back fired. Had 30 mins in the morning. Then m only slept 30 min too. Very grumpy all day.

If I put down at 11am -1230
Then1600-1615
Then bedtime 1915?
This okie.

I was capping pm nap at 20 mins before but interfering with bedtime she won't sleep till almost 8pm. So I am thinking capping at 15 mins. And see how it goes. What do u think?

Thank you so much for your advise.

If you see that she's particularly cranky in the morning or she wakes up earlier, it may be worth trying for 2 naps that day. Remember that its not uncommon for bubs to have a longer day during the transition period so even if her bedtime is pushed to 8 pm, in my opinion that is fine until she's used to being on just 1 nap.

For me, being flexible was important - if my LO wasn't falling asleep in the morning, I would make that a 1 nap day and offer an earlier bedtime. If she looked like she needed a nap, I used to shorten in to make sure she would take her afternoon nap. Some days we only ended up with 2 short naps but that comes with the transition too I believe. If you want to protect her bedtime, then maybe try an even shorter catnap but again, I never did that with my LO.

Maybe rather than giving her a morning nap at 11; you could do 10.30 so it would be something like this:
6.30 - wake
10.30-12 - morning nap
3.30-4 - afternoon nap
7.30 - bed

Of course her night wakings could be from just teething rather than the routine she's on :-\

Surprisingly in sun I put her on two nap
Wu 0700
Nap 11-1230
Nap put down at 1600 didn't sleep till 1615-1635 woke her up
Bedtime put down 1915 asleep 1930 and no night wakes
T
Yeah. Daddy puts her to bed first time as I was admitted to hospital
Wu this am 0626
Nap 1045-1215
Nap 2 daddy trying hard to put her down. Fingers crossed she sleeps

If again no night wake maybe she is OT even though she is so happy all thd time. Hmmmmm

Hope you're ok and it's nothing too serious.

Great to hear no NWs that night...it's funny you mention her looking happy and not tired during the day. Dd3 doesn't display any tired signs prior to being put down for a nap and would happily play if I left her to it but as soon as I take her to her room and put on the white noise, she starts sucking her thumb and will fall asleep in less than 5mins.

I would continue offering her that morning nap and if she's not taking the morning nap on a particular day, then let that be the 1 nap day and do an earlier bedtime :)

Normally no prob with morning nsp because doing long am short pm. Pm is the one that always get refused. Just lying in cot happily sucking cloth. Hubby just rang and says she us not taking her pm nap. So I just ask him to go in n rock her.

I m feeling better going home later. Missing dd can't wait to cuddle her. Hope she sleeps thru tonight because mummy is exhausted!!!

That's actually  normal for a lsn kid. Mine did only 10.5hrs on 2 naps and does just about 11 now that he's one one nap. Less than 10.5 is typically OT but anything over 10.5 is fine. At 11 months I would stick with one nap. We had to rock his pm nap for a good month. It's no fun but he just wasn't ready for one nap. I think about a week after his first birthday we went to one nap and would sneak in a 2 nap day if we saw him getting OT and he woke early. Even now at 18 months I sneak in a short CN sometimes if he's unwell.

I m confused when on one day nap first da, she did  2hr nap n 11.5 night but after 3 days I start getting night wake but it could be teething so I n not sure. She is refusing pm nap n rocking her to sleep mskes bedtime so late. Hmm maybe I will try one nap today and see how she goes n early bedtime at 1815. I think I might do a few one day nap then a day if 2 nap n see how she copes. I wish babies would just talk to us n tell us what they want. Mskes life s bit easier...

Is it because you get less Y time you don't like her being on 2 naps? Even if she wasn't a LSN baby, longer days/shorter nights during a transition period is normal. When she takes 1 nap, she may be going to bed earlier but then she is up at night and her night isn't as restorative. I suppose it would be up to you whether you prefer short night or her being awake at night? Personally I wouldn't be pushing for 1 nap and as I mentioned earlier, being flexible is important during a transition period. It doesn't HAVE to be all or nothing (2 or 1 nap) and a lot of them go from 2 to 1... just as you would have had the same when she was dropping her 3rd nap/catnap :). She can probably handle 1 nap here and there but will still need a catch up 2 nap. For some, the transition can drag on for months and months...

I just find 2 day naps makes night short. I m just worried that she is not getting the recommended 13-14 hrs sleep a day. :P I guess I will just have to apop the pm nap to squeeze in 2 naps. Thanks for your advice. I guess I am just a super worrier mum  :P
So it's okie if she gets 1.75 hr nap during the day and 10.75-11 hrs at night making 12.5-12-75 a day?
I guess if she is growing n happy I just stick with 2 naps for as long as she wants then. Thank you so much for your advice. :-)

Hun, try not to stress about it too much - messy things happen when they are in the transition. If you think she is better on 1 nap and the night wakings were due to teething, then there is no harm in going back to 1 nap. If she goes back to long night wakings, you can always go back to 2 naps. If you see its too hard to AP the catnap or its getting too late, then it's probably better to do an earlier bedtime. As you have probably seen from the 2-1 support thread, many bubs are doing the same thing and sometimes there is no easy answer and its about riding things out. As you are working on extending her A's - be open to doing an earlier bedtime and that she will skip her afternoon nap or you might have to AP it.

Try putting her down for morning nap a little earlier (10.30am) as per sample routine (which S's mum said worked really well for her too) and there should hopefully be enough A to squeeze in the catnap.

Arghhhhhh don't know what when wrong. I thought I have the best routine today.
Wu 0607
Nap 1030-1200 (have to wake her up) otherwise will have pm nap refusal or too late pm nap.
Nap put down at 1530 wont sleep till 1550-1615 ( don't need to apop) wake her up

Bedtime put down 1910 whiny and calling for me on and off and finally fall asleep at 1955
Arghhhhh why.?? ??? ??? :'( :'(
Fingers crossed no night wake.
Haven't have night wake for 2 nights in a row now.
But very short night of 10hr

I have no nw but an EW at 0600. I might try for one nap day n very early bedtime but she has gymbaroo class at 1250 hmmm
How do I stop this EW? She was getting up at 0630-0645 now it's 0600. I tried to put her to bed early at 1915 but she won't sleep till 8pm which means I get a short night. Skydiver13 says anything less than 10.5 hr is OT but I don't think she is though??????

What do you mean she wont sleep till 8? What does she do when you try to put her to sleep. What I mean by less than 10.5 is it is just a rule of thumb. My LO would do sometimes less sometimes more and ether was or wasn't OT. Only you know your LO. You could try switching and doing a short AM nap and long PM nap maybe that would work better for you I honestly am not sure what else to suggest except things wont change overnight. Usually a tweak in routine takes a few days to a week to really make a difference.

Hun as Skadiver said it really isn't an overnight type of a transition. Maybe a while ago when you tried shorter am/longer pm it wasn't working but it may work now?

She's not waking up at night... so I suppose you have the answer in why she was waking and she wasn't handling 1 nap for too many days in a row :-\

Thank you so much for ur advice I really  appreciate it. I put her down at 1915 she is just lying in bed blabbing n sucking her cloth till 2000 then fall asleep. Bcos I can see her in the video monitor.i did tried short am last week but she end up not sleeping more than 30min in the pm... Hmm maybe I will try again.
Thank you do much. I gues it's a part of the transition I just have to ride it out.

Ahhhh help after 4 days of short am/ long pm it's gone worse. Needs even longer a time to sleep because pm nap is 1.5 hr bedtime I tried to put down early at 1900 she just not sleeping rolling in bed. To make it worse I got night wake, and very early wake at 0530. Even with 1.5 hr nap in the afternoon she wakes up feeling grumpy n not a happy baby. Whiny. I think I m losing it. I think today she wakes up at 0530 n last night nw 15min, I will let her have a long am for as long as she wants to catch up on some sleep n see if shr wants a pm nap n try to ap it.

I really don't know what to do at bedtime anymore.

Sorry hun it was hard to understand what you were saying about pm nap? It is easier if you post your day in EAS format so we can take a look at it.. Sometimes it just takes time for lo's to get on track.

Sorry yesterday I did
Wu 0545 didn't pick her up till 0617 when she called out
Nap 0950-1025
Nap put down at 1330 didnt want to sleep till 1350 till 1530
Bedtime 1930 put down at 1910 didnt sleep till 1930

2230 woke up crying went inn cuddle put her down slept then 10mins later crying. Hum her a lullaby didnt pick her up pat her back for a few secs left the room then she fell asleep
This am wakes up at 0530 blabbing in bed. Now it's 0625 n still in bed awake but didnt call for me.

I don't know what to do now with naps today? This 4 days of short am/ long pm hasn't been very nice. She is cranky n not happy even thought she had 1.5 hr sleep in the pm. It's mskes bedtime worse i think NCOs she needs even longer a to bed after 1.5 hr.
Even after 20mins nap she needs at least 3.15to3.5 a time before she will sleep. Any earlier she will just roll around in bed sucking her cloth till asleep.

Help I  am abt to cry!!!! So sorry!!!

Honestly hun you'll drive yourself crazy if you spend so much time thinking about it  :(... try and go with the flow as much as possible. The 2-1 can drag on for a few months. You can try a set nap but just watch out for OT signs and you can always go back to 2 naps if need be. We also had crazy nap days (like 2x40 min naps); super early bedtime (as early as 4.30pm once); super early and ridiculous wake ups until it smoothed out.

When we did eventually drop the morning nap, we started with 11am nap and then slowly pushed it out to 12pm so I think your routine looks good... just as long as its not causing her to get overtired and leading to night wakings :) :-*

I have started dd on short am/long pm I now finally understand the trick to that is to have UT first nap I was doing it wrong all this time. So I figure it out this evening she wakes up from her pm nap (1.5hr) at 1430 and bedtime and asleep at 1830. So I am very happy that I can keep her day max at 13 hr (12 fully awake and 1 hr in bed this am before I pick her up to start the day. Thank you so much. I figure if she has EW tomorrow at 0530 she would already have 11hr sleep which I am very happy with.
Thank you Layla and SKadiver13 for all your advices. It all makes sense. You guys are amazing. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart! :-* :-*
