You don't have to lie her down, I always did as it gave me a focus yk rather than just going in and stroking their head or something. As for keeping going yes I would. Sometimes if DD was really upset I would spend a little longer with her so rather than just lying her down and replacing her muslin I would ssh her and stroke her face for a few seconds.

Good luck - WIWO is not for everyone, if she is getting upset to the point of being sick or anything like that then we can re think tomorrow but I would give it a good go..xx

Hi Becky,
Sorry I wasn't ignoring you. After our messages last week E slept through the night on Thursday and Friday night! However we had a hellish night on Saturday but were staying with family and couldn't really implement a PD strategy as I din't want to wake the whole house up.

Last night I did bedtime, she was definitely tired, but did do the usual get up and cry, I picked up once a resettled and then did WO/WI and just lay her back down several times, she eventually stayed lying down and moaned herself to sleep, I kept my hand on her back and then took it off and she went to sleep herself and I left the room.
She slept through! this is more luck than because of any ST though.
So if I continue with the bedtime of really trying to not pick up and hold then hopefully it will help with the NWs as well.

MY DH seems to finding staying in the room but just standing there at the end of the cot towards the door works but if I stay in the room she just tries to stand up to get to me so I think we will have to follow the principle of not holding to sleep but implement it in slightly different ways. She always messes around for him a lot less anyway.

So we seem to get one god night and one awful night so I am preparing myself for tonight!!

I will update you again, hope you had a good weekend
Claire

Hi,
Well a 1 nap day, she slept 1-3pm.
DH did BT aimed for her to be asleep at 7pm, 3 PD and she settled herself by 7.05pm when he left the room.
Had to wake her up at 7.20am this morning!!

So two sleep throughs but equally no chewing or red cheeks in the daytime either.

Just enjoying the full nights sleep for now :)

That's brilliant :)
I do think 1 nap is the way to go and a 2 hour one like that is great....

Hi,
Well the 1 nap day seems to be going well. A slightly shorter nap at childminders from 12.40pm-2.20pm but still over 1 1/2 hours which was good.

Settled well at bedtime, 1 PD and then settled herself to sleep.
A very odd WU at 9pm though, hysterical lying down and then really sobbing, DH had to hold her and then even after she went back to sleep in cot after about 10 mins she was still catching her breathe in her sleep !! ( can 15 month olds dream?get nightmares?)

Anyway some whinging at 2.30am and 5am which woke me but I didn't go in and she settled herself and woke at 7.10am  :)

Three nights in a row now! do you think the PD rather than holding at bedtime could have made the difference or is she just not teething this week  ???

Anyway whatever is going on I am happy.

Thanks again
Claire

Oh well
Awful bedtime and then a 1 1/2 hr WU from 12.30-2am with E sobbing and very unhappy.
I suspect her teeth were hurting as she was chewing a lot during the day and refused her tea.

I tried repeated lying down and WI/WO but she became inconsolable so I held until she allowed me to administer nurofen after about 1 hour and then eventually calmed down.

Don't particularly feel ST was implemented successfully but she did eventually go to sleep. !

I find when teeth are bad that I have to do similar with DD. I lie next to her bed when she is v upset.

Hi Becky,
Well we have had much better nights apart from the 40 min WU after BT she has been pretty much sleeping through.
E still messes around for me at BT a lot more than she does with DH (frustrating but trying to take it as a compliment!!)
Last night was baaaaad though, but I am sure it must be teeth. 40 mins to get her to settle at BT and then a 2+hr wake up from 2.30am so upset, nearly ripping bunnys ear off with her teeth and it took me an hour to get some gel and meds into her mouth.
Just had to lie with her on the bed as she was upset but as it is not every night now I can accept that and I really think she is just unfortunately a girl who lets me know about every tooth that comes through :(

Need to maybe tweek our BT routine to allow her to settle quicker but just want another week or so of good nights and then will have a think about it.

Thanks for the support
Claire

so pleased it has generally improved and well done you on not bringing her into bed....will happily take a lok at the routine for you although teeth do mess things up a bit!
