Fresh pair of eyes needed please
« on: January 20, 2014, 14:12:42 pm »
Hi all,

Katelyn is 3 years and 4 and a half months. She was settled on a 7.30 - 7.30 routine with no naps, all was well until grandad looked after her one afternoon and let her have a 1 hour nap. This was on the 17th November and since then things have been all over the place with her sleep.

She is also developing in many ways, more words are being learnt, confidence levels, attitude  ;) etc.

She is sometimes waking in the night for a couple of hours (lastnight she woke for a wee at 2am and didnt fall asleep till 5.30am). She is also very teary at bedtime, the only way I can reassure her is by laying on the floor near her cot until she falls asleep. If I dont do this she will be beside herself and I dont want her to feel scared or rejected so I am happy to do this.
She doesnt want her daddy to put her to bed but one the rare occassion that I do go out for the evening she just gets on with it and doesnt cry etc.

Do you have any advice with regards to her routine and / or the anxiety that she has around me at bedtime?

DH has been off work for 4 weeks for the festive period and we have both noticed a change in the way she is with daddy when he is around more, I am not sure if she's feeling a little jealous.

Any tips, advice or reassurance would be great, thank you for reading.

It does sound like a regression tbh but she seems to have got OT in the process. I tend to find consistency is key with regressions so sticking to set wind down, set bedtimes etc. Does she have a lovey? Nightlight?
Could you post your routine for the last 2 days for us to take a look. x

ok, so sleep regressions are really normal (unfortunately!) -  the obvious ones are 18 months and 2 years but I tend to find that half birthdays and birthdays often bring out some fun! Both mine went through the 2 year one with nap refusals, OT, night wakings etc. They are normal, can last up to 6 weeks and lo often has a developmental leap after them i.e. can do something new...
