Yes, to begin with it was just about getting the right pattern (EAS) and approximately the right amount of sleep, whether that was in a sling, a buggy, or a cot (occasionally).

Hi ladies,

Well we have made some huge progress with teaching him independent sleep. I have been playing with A times between 1-1.5 hours depending on his previous nap.

Now I swaddle him, walk around the room and sing a song, he sometimes has to cry the world out in my arms but once he relaxes and gets to the 7 mile stare, I place him in his crib and lay my chest on his chest. After a minute he falls asleep. Then I get up and placed hands on his chest for 20 min. He seems to like that better than shh/pat. If he's really OT, I have to PU and get him sleepy again and PD when he's calm. I do it very gently so he doesn't get OS. It seems to be working for us... I just don't know at what point ill know when to leave after I place him in the crib. Sometimes I feel like he is so relaxed and settled that I leave right away. But then he wakes up 30-35 min later.  Should I return at the 30 and 40 min mark and place hands on chest again?

If it is a pattern, a habitual waking, then you might want to go back in and help him learn to get through that disturbance with the gentle laying on of hands.  IIWM, I'd probably do that for naps for say 3-5 days and then leave it and see if he's any better.
