Early waking feeling discouraged!
« on: January 29, 2014, 19:38:46 pm »
Bib this is my first post.  My little guy is 22 wks.  He was 10 days over due(if that helps). For the last 3-4 weeks he's been waking up an hour early and playing in his bed.  Moving kicking feet and babbling. Always happy!  But where is that good sleeper that slept until 7 am perfectly for soooo long.
At the first of January we thought he was ready to Hinton 4 hr routine.  His day started at 7 am and last feed at 7 and bed by 7:30pm.
He struggled to make it til morning and I noticed he wasn't taking in too many extra calories in the day:(.  We usually follow babywise( please no judging:). So we didn't  dream feed.
I dialed him back to a combo routine.  So our day looks like this.
7 am bottle/cereal
Play
9 am nap
11 am bottle/cereal
Play
1 pm nap
3 pm bottle cereal
5:30-6:15(ish) cat nap
6:15 bottle
8 pm bedtime
9 dream feed

We did this t
Routine earlier and was working the dream feed was so early because we were transitioning away from it.  He still wakes early and plays in his bed.  I'm feeling very lost and discouraged!
Is it a "wonder week" issue as In developmental?
I don't know if I should try going in at 5 am jostle him then let him fall back to sleep!?.
Is our routine way off.  Soooo lost please help:)

Thx in advance!

So how long are his naps?  Are they really two hours, and the cat nap 45 minutes?  If so, he may be sleeping too much in the day, or he maybe approaching the 3:2 nap transition. There is some info on the easy board about this.

Thankyou. I'll definitely try that.  He's not fighting bedtime or waking cranky but he's definitely having a super party in his bed.  I actually shortened his catnap to half an hour instead of 45 min.   He woke for 20 min between 5:20-5:40. Better than before.  He fell back to sleep and I woke him at 7:).  So that tells me the catnap us key.
Advice for feelings at this point. I'm not sure he's ready to stretch the day. Although he didn't nap until 9:15 am.  He usually goes down at 9.
What do you think keep stretching the day?   What if he won't sleep later even though he went down later??
Thankyou!

How long are his naps now (are they 2hrs long or shorter)? Would you be able to post what the last couple of days looked like?
