Is this a growth spurt or comfort feeding?
« on: February 09, 2014, 08:52:15 am »
Hi all
My DS is 8 weeks today. At night she usually has one, 2 at the most night feeds (I breast feed). She has a bedtime feed about 6.30, dream feed about 10.45. She wakes naturally between 2 and 3 for a feed then again between 5 and 6 for a feed. Last night, she slept from 7.15 and I dream fed her at 10.45 (she was still asleep). However she then fussed and started to cry about 1.20, I tried burping (nothing came out), shush pat for a little bit, but she wasn't calming. I fed her and she gulped for 5/10 min on one breast and fell asleep. She did the same about 4, and them again at 5.30.
Is this a sign of growth spurt or do you think she woke for another reason other than hunger and the only way to get her back to sleep wasn't feeding? I don't want to start a prop for her night wakings
Thank you!
Xx

It's a pretty typical age for a GS. If it's still going on in 2 weeks, then you could look at trying to extend but give her the benefit of the doubt at this age and stage.
