anyone else with an almost 4yo still nw?
« on: February 10, 2014, 08:19:31 am »
Thats it really....ds (3y8mo) is on set bt of 7 (6/6.30 if he needs a cu) and over last week is having weird nws at random times. He shouts out and moans and groans for 10-15 mins but doesnt need anything. If nw happens at 5-5.30 he wakes by 6.15. today he was awake from 4-5!

its getting very tiring! No tv before bt and yesterday was low key in case it was os but made no diff to nw. Any ideas, btdt, empathy??

Tia!

4 yo was the PEAK of NWs, hours long...  Many times a week.  Developmental.  Tough.   Hang in there.. Xx

We have periods of one or two weeks in which we get nw. Then they go away, and DS returns to sttn. We had one of these period close to the 4 yo mark, I had a thread on this. Developmental also in our case.
We also have dreams and night terrors still, when he is OS or OT.

I really don't know, it seems so different from one time to another and from one kid and another...
For us, sleep disturbance last (usually) a couple of weeks now. Sleep needs did not really changed since he dropped the nap and he was on 11 h night on average (after one or two months at 11.5h), but rather fluctuate quite a bit: there are periods of 10.5 h followed by periods of 11.5 h. These periods seem to go in clusters, so nights are quite consistently the same length for a while, then shorten or lengthen for another while.

Hmm 10.5-11.5 doesnt seem like a lot of NS considering theyve just dropped the nap. Ds has been having nws and ews for ages so idont really know how many hours he needs :-/ i was hoping once these phases were over we would get uninterrupted 12h nights! lol wishful thinking....

F has NEVER been a 12 h kind of kid. He did 12 h maybe 10 times in his life and only when he was exhausted and needed a catch up. He is fine with 11 h really now. He could be lsn, but he usually sttn soundly (now that I say he will wake up tonight???  ::) ), so really, I can't complain.
Anyway, if I remember correctly, average sleep needs for 4 yo are 11.5 h, so 11 h is only little below the average.

Yay for the good night!
Maybe it is the heater. You will know if you switch off again;)
