20 months, Ready for 1-0 nap Transition!?
« on: February 12, 2014, 02:17:34 am »
It's always something... Here's the new thing. DD is getting close to 21 months. She naps 1ish-3ish, BT is 8:30. The lamp in her room is on a timer to turn on at 7am (working like a dream!) sometimes she calls for me at 7, 7:15 or I wake her at 7:30, which is nice! She has been fighting nap time and bedtime, just saying no, and other delay tactics for a little more than a week. The past couple days she'll nap a little more willingly but at bedtime I hear her playing in her crib until as late at 9:30/9:45pm.

I think she has always been low sleep needs and I didn't know it with constant UT/OT as an infant. She never napped longer than 45 minutes until she moved to 1 nap a day, months before she turned 1. She never STTN until then either. So, should I be waking her from her nap a little early? (I hate doing that she looks so cute all snuggly and sleeping) or just be happy she can play by herself for a while before bed?

HI!

So, was your LO doing this fabulous day until fairly recently? So the day did look something like this did it?

WU: 7-7.30
nap: 1-3pm
BT: 8.30pm

TBH, the day to me looks great, which IME will just be one of two things - teeth or developmental. I'm pretty sure my LO went through a similar thing at this age. I found that I had to ride it out and WI/WO to insist on naps and getting her to bed. My DD gets OT really quickly so we did go through a short time of offering the nap earlier because she was so obviously shattered (not just from nap and BT shenanigans but NW also) and the odd uncapped nap to catch up yk?

HTH

Hena

PS - only other thought - do you think your LO is ready for a nap at 1pm?

Hugs hun my LO is 21 months next week and we've had some odd behaviour at nap and BT, telling me no sleep and having shorter naps!
I've just persevered with naps and BT and things are coming back to normal but LO has had a massive language explosion over the last week so that could be coming your way too x

Totally agree with Zow. Now she's said about the language explosion it all came flooding back - R too had a language explosion around this time following nap and BT shenanigans. I'd ride it out and do what you need to in order to manage any OT so you don't end up in a mess
