When to change a baby - before or after feeding
« on: February 18, 2014, 09:31:16 am »
Hello,

I have a newborn (1 week old) and we are trying to start EASY. As I understand EASY changing a diaper is part of activity time which is after feeding. However all the doctors in the hospital say that is it important to change the diaper before feeding, as after feeding that baby can return food and chock on it.

I'm confused now how is should be done. Please help.

   best regards
    Mike

ultimately it is up to you.  You could always wait 10 mins and do it after a good burping session. i used to do it before because at that age I needed to wake mine up a bit before the feed. You can do other activity after the feed like chatting to your lo. Does your lo have reflux?

Waiting a couple of minutes seems reasonable. Thanks.
Mine lo doesn't have a reflux.

Do it before if you feel more comfortable that way. Like I said you can always do other Activity to have a break between the E and the S. :)

I usually ended up changing before a feed to wake them up and after too because they always pooped!

I would always do it after as she would be easier to change once fed (not cranky from needing a feed)

I changed mine before a feed because he was so refluxy he couldn't be laid down after a feed.  It doesn't really matter when so long as it regularly for wee and as soon as possible after a poo.
