what types of solids to feed
« on: February 28, 2014, 17:20:12 pm »
Hi everyone!

My little guy has been eating solids for about 1.5mnths now and seems to enjoy anything and everything that i give him. (mainly homemade pureed soups/fruits etc) He has 2 solid meals a day (morning and dinner) However,  i am finding he want more and more milk every afternoon and thus i am thinking of giving him solid foods here.

ANY ideas of what i could give him beside things like yogurt etc (he needs fairly pureed since his bottom 2 teeth are just coming in) I am very much into home meals for several reasons and i do have the time to make meals for him/and in advance.

Any ideas would be sooo greatly appreciated! ;D

How old is he? And do you mean that he is having a midday meal and breakfast, or breakfast and an evening meal?

Either way, it's possible to either introduce another meal, or include higher energy ingredients in his purees, or both - age dependent

He is having breakfast and a evening meal. I am just looking for easy recipes as to what to feed him for lunch. Maybe even simple finger foods...

Very much dependent on age! Can you tell us how old he is?

There are lots of ideas for finger foods here:
Finger Foods for Young Babies (6-9 months)

Babies don't necessarily need teeth yet to eat these - it's anazing what they can eat with just gums - even apple! So don't necessarily let the lack of teeth stop you.

If you google Annabel Karmel, she has loads of recipe ideas for different ages on her website too. My eldest loved then.

Roasted peppers (grill them, skin side up, until the skin blackens. Place in a bowl and cover immediately with cling film. Allow to cool in bowl and then peel skins off. Finely chop/ purée). Both my boys love/loved this.

Fish- cod/ salmon/ trout  (steamed and flake it into very small bits). Another big hit.

Steamed courgette

Cous-cous

I second the recommendation of Annabel karmel.
