25 min nap? OT? UT?
« on: March 20, 2014, 22:00:25 pm »
My DS seems to be all of a sudden wanting more A time but I can't seem to nail down his A time for the afternoon to get a good nap out of him.  His morning A time is 2:15, and a few days ago his afternoon A time was 2:30 but when I kept getting a 1hr or 1hr10min nap after that A time I figured he was UT.  The past 2 days I have increased his afternoon A time to 2:35 (yesterday) and got a 25 min nap in response! Today I put him down in the afternoon at 2:40 min A time and also got a 25 min nap.  I am able to do some APOP and get him to sleep longer but of course would rather he take a good nap on his own.  I should mention that this afternoon when I put him down he was asleep within seconds in my arms, didn't even have enough time to sing to him and put him in the crib awake.  So is a 25 min nap UT? or OT? Hungry?
So yesterday looked like this….
E 7:00
A 7-9:15
S 9:15
E 10:45
A
S 1:25
woke at 1:50 rocked back to sleep then had to wake him at 2:45 to preserve catnap) was grumpy
S 5:15 - 5:45
S 7: 55
Then he had night wakes at 9:10, 9:50 and 2:30.  Often he wakes around 10:30 and I feed him then he will wake again anywhere around 3:30 for another feed.
Any help is much appreciated.

Sounds like a bit of OT in the afternoon. It might not have been the extra 5 mins that did it, could have been he was more energetic or higher stimulation that day which made him more tired.
You didn't say how old he is so I'm not totally sure about your routine but hope that helps. I would return to the 2hr 30 afternoon A time probably.
