Any advice?

DS had a short night last night as he didn't fall asleep until 8 and woke at 6:15 this am.  He was OT by nap time so atypically cried when I PD for nap at 12 and he then woke after 30 min and wailed for 30 min.  I couldn't handle it any longer so I went in to see if I could rock him back to sleep, even though it's been 6 months since I last did that.  It didn't work.  So.....a 10.25 hr night followed by a 30 min nap.  Any suggestions?  He hasn't historically tacked on too well.  I was thinking I'd PD 45 min early at 6:15 and hope he pulls off at least a 12 hr night and sleeps 6:30-6:30?

Typical routine:
WU (between 6:15/6:45) - I always GU at 6:45 tho, I don't go in before so if he wakes earlier he just lies quietly until I get him or wake him at 6:45
Nap 12/12:15 - 1:45/2:00 (cap nap at 2:00 so he sleeps 1.5-2 hrs)
BT (PD at 7, falls asleep anywhere between 7:15 and 7:45 with little rhyme or reason to how long it will take him but he is quiet and barely moving most of that time)

Thanks for the input, Becky!  I wasn't able to PD until 6:30 but he fell asleep at 6:50 and slept straight through until 6:25 this this morning.  I'm quite surprised he didn't wake up multiple times in the night crying as that is historically what would happen on particularly bad nap days.

Hopefully we'll get back on track today :).  I do think we are still working through a bit of a delayed 18 month SR which has manifested as taking a long time to fall asleep at night, but I'm not complaining as he doesn't cry even though it takes him up to 1 hr at night sometimes!  It's been a fairly smooth SR compared to his previous sleepless life  ;) so I'm just sticking with the routine and guessing that eventually he'll resume to his former sleep patterns as it seems that's what usually happens with other LOs?

It's a plan, then!  Yesterday was:

WU 6:15 (GU 6:45)
Nap 12:35 (took him 35 min to fall asleep ) - 1:55 (1 hr 20)
PD at 7 and he still took 1 hr to fall asleep so asleep at 8 :-\

So a 13.75 hr with only a 1 hr 20 min nap :-\.But if I didn't have a vid monitor I'd never know it and probably would've thought he'd had a 2 hr nap and fallen asleep at 7:15 as he is so quiet in his crib.  He doesn't cry of fuss at all - yay for months and months (aka over a year) of STing paying off!  :D My theory is that he's processing as he talks quite a bit more than the average toddler his age, particularly being that he's a boy, and that's why it's taking him so long to fall asleep.

I had to wake him up this am at 6:45, though so only a 10.75 hr night with a 1 hr 20 min nap yesterday means we may have a repeat OT 30 min nap today :-\.....  Hopefully not, tho!
