Swing Naps
« on: March 25, 2014, 23:44:11 pm »
Do y'all think that swing naps are causing increased NWs?  I try to do one nap in the crib daily (usually the first) and there sometimes is one in the sling or car seat if we have to get out of the house.

They didn't for us and DD had a lot of swing naps until she was 4 months old.  How often is he waking at night?

Hi hun it might be helpful to give some additional info. The age of your lo, any medical issues, what is your current EASY? Are their any props invovled besides the swing?

Thanks

He is 6 weeks old, usually take a pacifier and I sometimes have the music playing on the swing. No medical issues. Our usual EASY looks like this:

E 07:30
A 07:50-08:15
S 8:30-10:30
E 10:30
A 10:50-11:30
S 11:30-1:30
E 1:30
A 1:50-2:45
S 2:45-4:30
E 4:30
A 4:50-5:30
S 5:30-6:30
E 6:30
A 6:50 bath
S 7:30-8 (CN)
E 8:00
DF 11 pm
Night feeds about 12:30-1 (eats well) and 4 (eats ok)

Last night he woke before his DF at 10:30, woke at 12 (pacifier alone worked), 1 (fed), 4 (fed), 5:30 (pacifier) and then wake for day at 7..  This is worse that it was before his 6 week growth spurt.  He is also busting out of his swaddle.  I ordered the Miracle Blanket and it should be here Friday.

Given that he is 6 weeks old the old nap in a swing isn't going to hurt him or cause nw's but is he used to sleeping in a crib at all during the day?

I do the 1st nap of the day in the crib.  I try other naps there as well but I lose 15-30 minutes trying to put him down (sometimes just to give up and go to the swing) and by that time he is overtired.  He goes down for bedtime in the crib without a ton of issue.

I would just start transition all his naps to the crib work on one at a time but eventually you'll want all of them in the crib. I doubt he can self settle at 6 weeks so really he is very young to worry too much about props etc. Waking up two to three times at night to feed is very normal at this age.
