How do you count night-time sleep hours?
« on: March 26, 2014, 13:58:49 pm »
hi there

trying to keep track of daytime and nightime sleep hours.

For night time sleep, do you include the time that you spend dreamfeeding (if your baby does not wake up?).

What about the time spent feeding when they wake crying (my DS 5 month old is waking and eating each time, so I am not going to cut those feeds out yet, he is under 5th percentile).

For example -

Bedtime 7:45
DF 9:30-9:45
Up and feed 12:30-1:00
sleep till 5

I know this isnt enough sleep - but just want to know how many hours this is.

Personally I never counted night feeds UNLESS it took a really long time to settle after. So if it was just feed burp back to sleep I counted that as still sleep time. If he was awake for half an hour afterwards, I'd cut that off the total sleep.
