Early wake up, nnd, when should bt be (3 yo)?
« on: March 28, 2014, 23:10:11 pm »
I've got a question about early risers and nnds...so my DS1 has seemingly dropped his last nap.  We started having a nap every few days but now he just refuses and the last time we tried a short nap, bt suffered because of it.  :-\.   So right now our wake up time ranges from 6:00-7:00 am and I'd say he's usually asleep by 7:15.  Do you think this is enough sleep for his age (almost 3)?  Maybe there's something else bothering him, but the last few days he woke up at 6:00 and it feels like maybe he's getting OT - crying more, tantrums increasing, more frustration, etc.  Should I try to put him to bed earlier if he wakes at 6:00 several days in a row?  Or continue on with our 7:00 bt?  Just curious about your thoughts. :)

We did early BT so the day was 11.5hrs long when we first started no nap but then he started sleeping in in the mornings and it shrunk to 10.5hr days.

Could you try a 6pm BT and see how he does perhaps? If not I would oh as early as you dare. It can take a while for the nights to start lengthening though I found.

3 year olds need about 12 hours of sleep a day. Sounds like maybe he's OT? I know my daughter just started nap refusals a couple weeks back, it was short-lived, but I ended up looking up how much sleep toddlers etc. need and read that 2 year olds need 13 hours, while 3 year olds need 12.
I would definitely suggest EBT of 6pm so that you're getting 12 hour days.
