I know a lot of ladies have had success going through their HV to get the milk. Well via the GP for the prescription obv. He might not have an allergy but MPI and that can't be tested for.

Hi MM

I have a couple of tins of neocate if you're interested?? I need to check expiry on them but they're yours if u want...I'm in UK too...

Re gp. Could you go back and see another gp? Be very confident and insist that you want to trial neocate cos you're certain ds is mspi and if they can't then prescribe it then insist on getting a referral to a paed. I don't see why your gp would say to see an allergist from what I rem they don't test los reliably? I'm not sure ??? The gp was useless with lo1 and it was only when my ds ended up I. Hospital dehydrated that we were taken seriously >:( you dont want that. With dd I just insisted and went straight to neocate.

You too huh? I know GPs aren't supposed to be experts in any particular area but my one is about as useful as a chocolate teapot. I'm sure he just thinks I'm a neurotic mother ("He looks like he's doing fine", pointing to smiling, chunky DS) and kept talking about buying soy formula from boots. It's so frustrating as he doesn't see the awful night screaming, the spitting up etc. thank goodness for this forum!

Thanks Aisha, that's a really kind offer. I would cover postage etc. of course. If they're still good to use, shall I PM you my details?

I'm a bit worried about trying the nutramigen as I've read some babies react badly to it. I think I will try the Neocate first, to be on the safe side. Thank you for the offer though. Poor little guy has woken screaming his head off twice already this evening. His nights still haven't settled down since I tried dairy again. I just wish I could fix him.

You can buy tins of these milks over the counter to try. Expensive obviously, but if you are keen to try before sorting the funding issue, it is an option. Nutramigen is about £15, neocate or nutramigen AA more like £25!!

Another option is trying to see a dietician. They can prescribe special milks usually.
