I lied j still got snotty nose and it's making him cough and he keeps disturbing h. However last night I was awake more than asleep. It's just a joke atm. 7.5 months and never even remotely slept through. Well actually before we went to the unit they were better which just makes everything harder. J woke just after 5-again and then disturbs h and they've woken o which is just the last thing henneeds right now as he's got 'important' stuff at school. I'm a loss. I can't even try the one nap with a Wu like this.

Mine are 2 months older than yours and Z has slept through twice, C never. Often I lie to people about this because it makes me feel like a bad parent.....and I wonder if everyone else is lying too!  I f***ing hate the no cry sleep solution but there's a bit in there that basically says most babies aren't sleeping though for ages. You are doing a fantastic job, keep plugging on. They will get there in the end....

I get really cross when my HV keeps suggesting I get help as we just can't afford it....but if you can would it be an option? I know it's hard to sleep in the daytime but a friend of mine had a night nanny once a week for a bit....

No we can't :(  Otherwise I so would've done!  I know partly it's cos they're still poorly and now are reliant on cuddles again ::) but what else could I do?  When they're better I think I'm going to have to do a fri and sat night trying to settle without feeding or picking up but last time I did it for an hour and he never went to sleep ???

That's just par for the course for sleep training though, no? I know both of mine when we were sleep training had some super long sessions of trying to settle them, but they do go back to sleep eventually.

I don't know really cos I never had to do it with O :-\  So you literally just keep going until they go back to sleep yes??  How do you know though that they're not hungry?  I mean my two would be fed at 6.30pm and then if they wake at 2am what should I think?

I think you just decide on what is a reasonable number of feeds for the night and time to space them apart. Then when they wake up you decide before you go to them if you are going to settle them or if you're going to feed them. If you're going to settle them you just keep going for as long as it takes (you can feed them at the next waking if they go past their 'scheduled' feed time).

Another way of doing it is, some people just settle without feeding at the first waking, whether that is 9pm or 2am, and then take it from there.

So both boys are much better but I've massively decreased the solids and stopped giving them before bed. Consequently j has been sleeping better. And last night h slept from just after 7 till 5.30 without a feed! I then got him up. I was up for nearly 2hrs with an unsettled j but he never fed either.

I'm hoping this is the start of things. I've also stopped capping the morning nap. They've been so tired I don't think it was helping. I'm not letting them sleep much past 3pm and they seem to want to go down after about just under 3hrs a time.

Keep everything crossed for me. I need to catch a break.

^^ this  was my boys too! but did sooo much better with less solids after initially scoffing them down and I thinking I needed to keep feeding them ::)

Amazing to hear this Laura. You've done so well. I know how long and intense this has been so far.
I have EVERYTHING crossed for you (although I think you do yourself a disservice by implying that this recent progress has to do with luck!).
