Laura, yes I think they might. They may even move to 2 hrs on their own if you stick to 4.5 hrs A for a bit longer. Keep it for 3-5 days and let's see how they're going. Hopefully night sleep improves too x

The problem is with DH at work I can't get them to bed early so I may have to do two naps ???  J looks wiped out this morning. So I'll do two naps (I'll go out this afternoon and they'll fall asleep in the car)

Our night was pretty bad - mainly cos they both had long nws where they were tossing and turning (hence the sweet potato question!) It's very unlike H to do this, J will do it and I've always thought food related.  The thing is I batch made lamb mince parsnip carrot and sweet potato - looks like that may go in the bin ::)  I don't know what else it could be - well it could be the lamb I guess??  I'm going to stick with the chicken stuff I made for the next few days and see what happens.

I go back to work in two weeks, I really need them to sleep a bit better.

I'm exhausted.  I don't understand why my boys won't sleep through.  So many babies do by this age.  My friend was telling me yesterday how her 9wk old sleeps 11hrs straight just like her other two did ::) it's so unfair.  They can self settle they have a routine, granted H has been cutting a tooth but even so, I've had it.  I'm back at work on Tuesday, I'm fed up of not having a life cos I'm so damn tired.

Aw hugs sweetheart
My friend over here has b g twins who are 14 months old. She went back to work two weeks ago, exhausted as they have never sttn. Always been up several times each and on a good day her boy will sleep ten hours and that's it.
Since going back to work she has them in bed by 8.30pm and has to get them up at 6.30 am and from anout three days in they have both slept through.... Completely through...not a peep.
And she finishes work at 4 but her child minder has them until six so she sleeps 1.5 hrs when she get home before picking them up (she's actually pregnant with her third so really needs it!).
So there's def hope! I think you'll see big shifts when you go back!

I'm glad it made you feel better. It annoys me too ;) but you know sometimes they're lying.

Yeah E has only slept through about 6 times since her 4 month gs - and I agree with Sarah sometimes they are lying or only telling a partial truth! My older two sleep more tha the baby does I swear!

Neither of my boys STTN consistently till over 12 mths....and T...omg!
I think Heidi is right, often people stretch the truth a little. Sure some STTN but a lot...a lot don't.

Are they getting close to ten mths? Maybe you just go for the 1 nap ct soon and see if it works?

Laura, mine have slept loads better since I've been back at work. Not sure why, but they have. And people def lie about STTN, I know because I've done it  :-[ sometimes can't bear to admit how long it took them!!

I was saying to Sarah on her thread, my niece is a little firecracker and horrible sleeper (like my 2!!) and her mum tells me it's a sign of great intelligence! These kids are just too interested in the world to sleep I think. And I think being twins their life is so fun with their little buddy that they just enjoy it too much to waste it snoozing!!

How's daddy daycare working out?

I too have heard its a sign of intelligence. Certainly is with ds1 anyway!

Daddy daycare starts on Tuesday! Do yours go to nursery? Maybe that's why they sleep better?

Yeah I have heard that about intelligence too! E has done a couple of mornings at daycare and always needs and earlier nap but I haven't noticed a difference to our nights - we do get the best nights when our days are super full of activity but not always possible to do that!

Laura I was thinking about you last night as I lay awake in anger at my sleeping husband, still unable to get a hold of my anxiety because one or both of the babies woke a few times in a row (both babies have colds and coughs picked up from the hospital I think) resulting in me lying there, adrenaline pumping through me unable to actually sleep... Even though everyone else by that time is.
And I wondered if it would be more helpful if I explained my understanding (or maybe it's just acceptance) of what sttn means for us.... Mostly, it's about being sure of what it is they want or need when they wake or stir... Because they both do several times a night. And regardless of whether they need me to help them or not I generally always get up and at least got to their door. B tends to wake, cry out and then shuffle around until she finds a paci and I hear her sigh and she goes back down. Occasionally the cry is prolonged so she's normally stuck in an awkward position or she needs a drink. P wakes up for a drink of water most nights (we are working on her finding her own sippy cup which we leave in her crib) which I attend to.
There have been a few weeks (when they were 11 or 12 months old) when most nights we only heard from b and she resettled herself but apart from that there has always been something to attend to or attune to between one and twenty times a night depending on what's been going on. Growth spurts, teeth, pain/illness, developmental milestones, emotional processing. But I have been calling this sleeping through the night! Perhaps I shouldn't have been but for me there is a difference between this and the early early days of feeding two/three/four/five hourly. It feels more of like I've got a handle on the what's and why's of their waking which feels different to their early days.
Just wanted to share the reality of our sttn.
Xxxx

I like it! STTN confessions!!

My turn - our STTN is from 7-4. In that time, usually, Z will sleep but C often wakes for a dummy - like Beth's little B she cries out, rummages around and if she finds it goes back down. But her cry wakes me up of course!!  I have to get up to give it back to her about one night in 3 I suppose. And if they are ill it's obviously much worse. C v seldom sleeps past 5 and then we have an hours battle until I give up and get them up.  And recently it has quite often been half 4  :o but still I think it's amazing given where we were not long ago. They go to a CM Laura, and I think that she tires them out esp as there are some older kids around!

Beth, are you ok? It's all so stressful for you.  I think about you a lot, it's such a nightmare even taking twins to the GP so the hospital must be horrific. And now they are poorly too!
