The difference between a tired cry and uncomfortable/wind!
« on: April 16, 2014, 15:12:25 pm »
Sometimes when LO is tired and fussy and I put her down I'm always second guessing if she has more wind as her tired/fussing looks quite uncomfortable. Sometimes I pick her up to be sure but this extends and exasperates the fussing occasionally, on other occasions if she's not to ot she stops and snuggles in. Her body twists and jerks and it's kind of like a 'nyih nyih' sound she makes! Can anyone talk to be about the differences in sound, tone expressions etc their little ones make if the are a bit uncomfortable. Sometimes her eyes are almost shut for quite a while like she really wants to sleep but every now and then her body twists and jerks and she does a little cry. Is this normal sleepy behavior?

I think the cries change with age, well at least it did for us, LO had terrible wind when little and his crying was incredibly intense and he would actually settle until it all came out.....
If im imagining that correctly the closed eyes and either crying or purs does mmmmmmm is either OT or i have put him down too early, but usually OT.

I'd agree I always found LO would seem jerky and uncomfortable when overtired.  And that would make it hard for her to get into a deep sleep so she would seem to settle and then wake and jerk/wriggle again.  Are you using shh pat or similar to help?

Yeah but sometimes when ot it just seems to aggitate her. Creations had just posted some useful advice on another post if mine that I think sometimes I'm putting her down too early and it's is affecting nap length which then means she's ot by later in the day. It's such a juggling act. Sometimes she won't resettle at the 45min mark though then I pick her up and she brings up more wins so I'm just always paranoid about putting her down and her being uncomfortable even though I've already winded her.
