6m old NW every 30m!
« on: April 19, 2014, 20:47:28 pm »
Sleep issues never seem to end in our house. Since ST, DD has been in a good naps/bad nights, bad naps/good nights, loop. Though she is still learning to withstand her full 3h A (falling asleep at WD), we just got through the 3-2 nap transition UT/OT loop. Last night, after I put her down for BT, she slept for 4hrs, WU for a feeding, slept for 2.5hrs, and then WU every 30 minutes(!!!!!!!!) until she was awake for 1.5hrs then fell asleep on my bed at 5:20am until 7:30am..out of exhaustion, we accidentally slept in until 8:40am.

Our usual EAS
WU 8
A 8-11
S 11-1230
A 1230-330
S 330-5
A 5-8
BT 8

Since getting through the 3-2, she has had more NW but *usually* settles after i feed her. Each night has gotten worse and worse until our awful night last night  :o

Please help! TY

Hi hun there is a growth spurt at 6 months I'm thinking she was hungry at that second waking which is why she kept waking every 30min? Did you try feeding at all?

Hi, thank you so much for your response!

Yes, I fed her, our night went like this:
BT 824
NW/E 1225
NW/E 304
NW/E 331
NW 404-522
NW/E 732

We probably should've gotten up for the day but I was so tired  :-X

I'm stumped because I've read that frequent NW means OT, long NW means UT..and she had both! Her naps are usually 1.5hrs..but it's also not uncommon for her to cut them short by 10m.

It could be a developmental leap that happens around 6 months as well as a GS. Has she learned to do anything new? Roll over etc.? The only thing I would avoid is trying to feed to sleep as it will be a prop that is hard to undo. If you are on a 4hr easy than she should be able to go 4hrs between feedings at night just like she does during the day. So if she's in bed at 8 and you fed at say 7:30 if she wakes before 11:30 you would resettle with out feeding. If she feeds then you would resettle at any wakings before 3:30.

Frequent NW's can be any number of things. For my lo it was discomfort. Did you introduce any new solids into the mix? Honestly your EASY looks pretty good.

She has learned to roll over but that was two weeks ago...could it be distrusting her sleep now? She has started solids and I introduce a new food every 4 days.

Before her naps, I top her off with a small feeding bc she only nurses at one side at a time, I don't want her to shorten her nap due to hunger. Could that be causing her frequent NW?

Happy Easter! :)

Hi hun, it could be one of the solids you introduced? I would wait maybe longer than 4 days for right now? Maybe take away the few foods you introduced in the last two weeks to see if that makes a difference? Are you BF'ing at all the night wakings?
