Bottles- Drop ins?
« on: April 21, 2014, 11:10:32 am »
I have read the FAQ link for best bottles, but wanted to see if there were any more recent advise-

We are using the avent natural bottles, but she seems to suck in air with every suck from the sides of her mouth, seems to be struggling to get milk out... And gassy. Have been reading that the drops in work well and are easy to use. Anyone use these and do they work well? Any other bottles recommended for this? Baby is 4 weeks old and was breast fed until last week and transitioned ot bottles for when I go back to work... Just seems the avent that we used on DS1 is not working.

We use the  playtex nurser drop ins with dd2.  She hated having to work to get milk out of vented bottles, so the drop ins were perfect for her because they reduced gas without being vented.

How long do you trial a new bottle before deciding it does not work?

Some I knew right away they werent going to work.  Others I gave 3-5 days.  You should have seen my thread on trying to figure out the right bottle for dd2!  I still have almost every bottle available in Canada stored in my basement  :P

Lol! I used to have a sippy cup collection like that for DD2!

We have had success this time around with Dr Browns, though my oldest DD did good on the drop ins but DD2 did not like them and I had gotten rid of them. We only did Dr Browns because a neighbour sold me hers!

I used the drop ins and loved them, especially because you can literally push all the air out!  My DS was colicky and very windy...so we found these worked the best.

Thank you! We tried all the above and actually settled for now on playtex ventaire- seems to be the best overall and less gas. AT least for the last day it has worked well.  Don't have to burp as much! I appreciate your help!

When my DD took a bottle for the three blessed days she did - it was the playtex drop ins - with the brown nipple only...

Ventaires were amazing for dd1...I wish they would have worked for dd2, my bottle stash would take up much less space right now  ::)
