Our 7 week old has been doing very well on the EASY for us. However he's just started absolutely FREAKING out when we swaddle him. Like really goes into a tizzy. As soon as I let him loose he starts to wind down and then he's happy. However this kid has arms that go 100 miles a minute SO I can't put him to sleep for a nap bc he just ends up wacking himself in his sleep and waking up. I just don't know how to fix this as it's going to throw a wrench in our EASY as the poor guy gets worked up and overtired. We have been using the swaddle me brand which kept him nice and snug bc he always gets out of his blankets. Well NOW even if he does end up crashing after fighting me in the swaddle he wakes himself up bc he gets his little arms almost out and then gets stuck.

....I have a Houdini in the making I'm sure of it.  >:(

Hi, this sort of behaviour I quite common at this age as LOs gets more active and more alert. It might be because this kind of swaddle is too restrictive for him now and he's getting worked up about it. You could try a zip up swaddle like a woombie (I can't remember when we moved to one of these but not long after 7 weeks I'm sure) it still keeps LOs wrapped up and stopped my dd hitting herself in the face, but they do have some movement freedom which stopped my DD's frustration.

Another thing it could be is that your DS is starting to need a tiny bit longer A time before he is put down for the nap, perhaps he's not quite tired enough. How long is your A time right now? Could you add 5/10 mins to each and see if that helps?

Hi, just thought I would comment as I remember the same thing happening when my DD was about that age.... Now nearly 6 months! I stopped swaddling her all together and that was a disaster. So as PP said Woombies are great, they have different levels of restriction in the material. Also ergo Cocoons are quite stretchy. I had lots of success with these. Both brands make a convertible so that when you do want to wean the swaddle (or LO gets the hang of his arms!!) you can do one arm out at a time to get him used to it. Hope that helps you out, good luck :-)
