Really need some help...

My baby is coming up 14 weeks. Am trying to teach him to self settle as had Bf him to sleep up until now. He will fall asleep on his own at night time and normally for his first nap but then he will only sleep for 40/45 minutes. He wakes up - I leave him but he just starts crying. It tried to put him back down to sleep using PU/PD yesterday but in the end I just took him down stairs for a feed and to play

Because he doesn't sleep for long enough he almost falls a sleep during his feed and then is yawning all through his A time. Am I misreading his yawns and he's not really tired or is he overtired and then just won't settle?

Regally do to know what to. Do... Please help as don't want to give up :( thanks

Hi there!
First off, though it doesn't seem like it to you I'm sure, he's still very little, so take it easy on yourself, it's great that you're even thinking about a routine for him.

You want to think about his whole day to figure out nap timings.  I see you have another thread going on the Props board so I won't go into too much detail here.   Average A for his age is somewhere from 1 hr 20-30 mins (that's from eyes open to eyes shut, and it's an average so some babies get less, some more). 

I don't know if you've read up on EASY, the BW philosophy is about structuring LOs day rather than following a schedule.  So you want to get him doing Eating, Activity, Sleep in that order, which brings us back to your thread on Props :)

Hi,

when my Dd was 12wks - she still yawning like right after the feed which makes me so confused. And i soon knew yawn isnt a sleepy cue anymore. Mod here told me when baby get older sometimes they yawn for nothing. I think you will have to find another sleepy cue - for my Dd was rub eyes, blink blink blink & stare..
