Napping change 20 months..
« on: April 30, 2014, 21:24:54 pm »
Finally after trying and waiting and being consistent my daughter got the hang of the one nap! Wahoo..

She would nap from 1-3/330 go done between 730/8 and wake at 7/730.. Just as of last week she's been waking consistently at 6 am.. Fussing crying till she is finally gotten up.. She won't fall back asleep. Her naps have turned short too.. Crying after an hour and only goes back if I've given her a pacifier which I don't want to continue since she never has used it fir sleep. So weird to all the sudden have this change? Any advice?

Could she be teething? My boys wake early when they are teething. It's the age for canines and molar movement :-\

How long has she had this routine?

I'm at the same stage as you. 19.5 month old DS... waking up at 5:30, and naps are only 1.25-1.5 hours :( He's also teething, cutting canines, so I'm attributing it to that. It's been three weeks of EWings now, but these teeth take forever to cut! Have you tried meds? Doesn't work for us, but some people have success even doing it a few hours before they wake up in the morning if you think she's waking up due to pain.

Yes as MB says trypsin meds first. 20 mins before BT or the nap if you know teething is an issue. For us I need to give brufen as paracetamol doesn't touch it. If it is really bad pain you can alternate the two types of meds (at correct intervals and doses for weight/age) so brufen. Then Panadol 3/4 hrs later.

It's not ideal but I always feed at EW with my boys (when under 2 yrs) when I know it's discomfort. I give pain meds, feed then try to resettle to sleep. It never caused a prop for us.
