Dropping bottles too fast?
« on: May 07, 2014, 21:05:15 pm »
Dd will be 10 months old in about 9 days. She dropped down to 3 bottles and we were doing:

7:00 breakfast
9:00 bottle
12:00 lunch
3:30 bottle
5:00 dinner
7:15 bottle

Lately she's been showing very little interest in the 9:00 bottle and little to no interest in the 3:30 bottle, the only bottle she still drains (8oz) is the bedtime one. She is eating her solids well but hasn't increased those to warrant a drop in the milk intake and I don't offer her snacks yet between these feeding times. Is she still too young to drop to 2 bottles? I think my first girl dropped to 2 bottles just shy of 11 months, so about a month later. She is cutting 2 teeth on top so that may be part of it but when she cut her bottom 2 her milk intake didn't reduce as drastically as it is now. Any ideas?

It probably is the teeth. You do need to keep milk intake up for a couple of months yet, I would be offering her milk first in the morning and then solids to see if that helps. If she takes a good bottle first thing and bedtime I wouldn't worry too much about the middle bottle. You can also increase the dairy in her food to help.

Thanks, I figured she was a bit too young yet. I had been doing bottle at 7 and breakfast at 9 but she was only drinking 4 oz that way too. Oh well, we'll keep on keeping on until these teeth are done cutting. :)
