How do you know when to push the nap?
« on: May 20, 2014, 11:36:31 am »
I had a chat yesterday with the mother of L's friend. She was telling me that lately her DS has been having some EW's of about an hour and then going back to sleep and sleeping in which is totally getting him off track. She asked me what time L's nap was and if we were having the same problems and told her that L is getting his bottom molars so we are getting EW too but no going back to sleep here ::)

Anyways, i told her i would try to get some help from my BW friends! ;D

Routine before the mess

WU 0630
Nap 130-3 capped
bt 715 never asleep before 8

now he is doing

wu 0715 she wakes him for daycare
nap 130-3 capped
bt 715 never asleep before 845!!
ew usually around 430/5 for about an hour

so what does this mean?
should she be pushing her nap later? cutting it more?
he is a big talker already and is also getting some molars but she says dm aren't making much difference.
he is 25mo

would love to help a friend!

It could be developmental... But I'm thinking if it doesn't go away on its own it could be UT. Is he typically A-LSN?

We pushed the nap later so 2-3.30 but that is because it worked well for Z. Some people cap at 45-1 hr instead and pull Bt back a bit. It really depends on the kid. We also did lots of NND as Z was AWFUL on a short nap!

ok i will tell her that then! thank you Sara!
how long should she wait to see if it is developmental?
could it be the molars causing this?

Yeah could be molars. I found the 2 yr molars funny things really. Caused behavioural issues for us more than anything but also funny nights not so much 'pain' but DS was just out of sorts YK. She could also try w2s but I don't know if it would help :-\

Get her to pick which one she thinks is best maybe and hold for a week :) :-*

I think push it out, too. By 2, my DS (LSN) was napping approx 2/2.30-4 and then bedtime was around 8. And we were generally up for the day around 5!
