Hi, we struggle with ew here too and for my sanity I've been doing set naps for a while now. Eg, I would like her to wake at 6. So I don't get her out of her cot until 6.  A time starts at 6, so first nap is at 9:45 now (it was 9 but gradually shifted later). Also I deliberately cap the first nap. I started at 1 hr 15 and have gradually worked it down to 30-35 minutes.  I find this way she is tired enough to have a good nap in the afternoon and she doesn't use the first nap to make up for her ew.  Just another point of view ;)

omg, 6 pm BD yesterday. Woke up at 5, in bed at 8:22 but asleep for only 35 min? OT or UT she already had her first A at 3h and slept for 1 H, she also had 3h 15 min A and slept for 1h so OT or U, this way she will go to bed at around 12 and wake up at 1 and then what?

That's a good 11 hour night though! How does she seem mood wise....tired, whingy or happy and content?
Have you tried meds about 15 mins before nap? Can you try 12 nap but if wakes rock back to sleep or sleep on you for an extension?
If you get a good night again id push that nap to near 8.45am because if your only getting short naps any way you might as well push them further into your day if you get what I mean!?

for us here 35 has always been UT and for some reason always waking up screaming. 11 hours is a decent night really, so as Zoe suggested I would push out that first nap and try and extend nap if you can. I know 1hour nap isnt ideal, but that is a more restful sleep than 40 mins.
if after a good 11 hour night you are getting a short UT nap on 3.20A I would increase and hold for a few days.

Weird I wanted to put her to bed at 12:15 but she refused, instead she went to bed not without problems at 1 and slept for 1h. Logically thinking she should be OT, still long time until bed time. Tomorrow Ill try 3;45 first A and 4 for the second one and see what happens.

Disaster, yesterdays BD 6 and she woke up at 4:30. What else can I do, I have already extended her A time to 3:45 and second one to 4 h?

Shall I stick with 6pm BT? and how do I then move on to later WU time.
She woke up today at 4:30, but I didn't pick her up until 5, does this half an hour count as A time because Lo in not stimulated?
I put her to bed at 8:20 and so far she has been asleep for 1h 10 which is good for her, how do I adjust her second A time though as her naps are not consistent so cannot do the same A's.

I know its frustrating, there isnt a simple solution. If we get a short nap here i cut down the next A time by about 15 mins, if i make it too short then we will just get another 40 min nap.

I think Sarah suggested almost doing set naps so first nap not before 9am for example. It works for some and maybe to get rid of early waking you might need to do the same thing for a week or so.

So say LO wakes at 4.30, but you want to start the day at 5, so you would get LO out of bed at 5 and count your A time from 5.

We have done that when Oz was about 5 month as we were getting EW and nothibg worked to make it better, so if all fails its worth a try.

aaaaaaaaaaaa just as I thought everything is going to be fine, she completely refused her second nap. As she is EBF and I need to feed her I end up feeding to sleep. This is not the first time as second feeding falls just because second nap.

She is 9 months exactly. Im in the process of moving her from 3 naps to 2. I dont think she is ready for one nap. Plus, she never really gets two good naps.
Most of the time it is about an hour long, so doesn't sleep more than 2 hours a day.
ive only just got her first nap sorted after extending first A from 2 to 3:45 min in 3 weeks, but Im struggling with second one now.
I think Im going around in circles.

I'm not suggesting she's ready for 1 nap hun but wondered how old she is now as sometimes sleep gets funny around 10 months and guessed from previous posts she must be nearing this age!

Totally agree with all this
