Early waking at 8.5 months
« on: June 04, 2014, 01:40:14 am »
Hi mums,
My bub has been waking 2hrs early to start the day. Our routine hasn't changed during the day and it's just been happening for the past 5 mornings. I'm just wanting some suggestions of what may lead to early wake ups. He's been sleeping 2.5-3hr during the day over 2 naps.
I'd really appreciate any advice.

Cheers

Hi, could you please post your daytime routine? What time does he take his naps? What is he like when he wakes up... happy or needs more sleep?

Thanks Layla

8am feed
8:30 solids
10:30 sleep
12 feed
12:30 solids
2:30-3pm sleep
4-4:30 feed
5:30-6- dinner
Bath
8pm sleep through to morning with no feeds
He's always happy when he wakes up even if he's had a bad sleep day as less as 2x 45mins.

This morning when he woke 2hrs early... My hubby tried to settle him but he was wide awake.. Wasn't crying.. He entertained himself for half am hour while my hubby napped on the floor. Then suddenly he linked out on him at 7:30. Then he slept for 45min.

The mornings before he didn't go back to sleep

He's also only been doing 40min naps during the day. I'm quite stressed as we have to make a trip overseas in 2 weeks, visiting his sick grandfather. But his sleep is disrupted here at home, I'm really not looking forward to having him away :(

He may need a little more A time if he's doing 45min naps. At that age, its common for babies to do one short and one long nap. If he's waking at 5.30am and unable to get back to sleep, I would probably try for a morning nap around 9-9.30am and let him sleep up to 45mins and then offer the afternoon nap around 3-3.5hrs from when he wakes. So something like this:

5.30-6am - wake
9.15-10am - morning nap
1.30-3 - afternoon nap
6.30pm - bedtime

Could he be teething at all?

He's been sleeping consistently for 11-12 hours for several months from 8-8. And we always wait for daddy to come home to have dinner together and he baths bub so doing a 6:30 bedtime is not really possible. I'm wanting to see why he's waking 2hr before his usual time :(

I've tried 3.5-even 4hrs to see if he's sleep longer, but it's still only 45mins :( then I think whether he's over tired :(

He got his 2nd tooth about 1.5 months ago. Could his 3rd one be coming? Don't see anything yet though
