OT? Hard to read 11mo
« on: June 05, 2014, 18:02:12 pm »
Hiya all,

I suppose I just need some reassurance really. DD is well into the 2-1 transition. We're having some one nap and two nap days so it's a bit all over the place atm.

Whatever happens she's taking at least 20+ mins to fall asleep at BT so I really don't know how to read whether she's UT or OT! WU's are getting earlier too but not considered EW as they're after 10.5-11hrs sleep. However, when we first started doing 1 nap days she was doing a 12-hr night! Glorious! Not to last though.

Today went like this:

No NW
Wu 5.30am
Get up 6.30 (she's happy to hang out in there, but unsure if she went back to sleep because I did!
S 11.30-1.40pm
BT 6.30 asleep (just now at 7)

Day before:
1 NW at 10pm needing ssh/pat for 5 mins
Wu 5.30am
Get up 6.15
S 11.15-1.40
BT 6.15 asleep 6.40

Day before that:
Wu 5.30am
Get up 6.15
Super sleepy cues and vvv grumpy so s 10-11.30
S 3.45-4.05
BT 7 asleep 7.30

As you can see she has less sleep overall with two naps and has a NW?! Either way, I'd love some eyes on this to make sure I'm going down the right path.. And anything I can do to get my (not so lovely, but bare able) 6.10-20 WU's back?

TIA xx

Hi, how was last night?
As you say not really NW/EW as had 10.5 hours plus sleep. Think your day needs a shift so you can get your WU back.
You could try pushing nap by just 5-10 mins see if it helps get a little later WU them BT!  We sti had 2 naps at this age so not an expert really. Any teeth on the move as EW for us are pretty much always teeth!?x

Hiya Zoe, thanks for the reply.

Last night sucked! Went up to check on her at 7.30 to smell she'd done a nappy. Had to wake her to change her then it took me 45mins to get her back off to sleep! Otherwise one small NW at 1am requiring ssh/pat for a couple of mins.

I'd love to shift the day but she only managed to get to 11.10am for her nap today. Was super grumpy. She took a decent nap until 1pm though, but now I'm unsure whether to do EBT or try for a CN?! She's refused them a lot lately and will only do one on a 4hr + A  ::)

I'm unsure about the teeth, she really hates me looking in there! She has been really dribbly over the last couple of weeks. She only has one incisor left to come (the rest came over a month ago, so it's taking it's time), otherwise it could be the 1 yr molars early?

We had molars moving by 1 if there is drool I'd try done meds just to see if it makes a difference!!
I'd prob try EBT unless you do the CN for say 20 mins and see if BT gets pushed later! My DS has had 6pm bedtimes when nap transitions going on!

I thought I'd try the CN but no go! Had her in bed for 6.15pm so we'll see how the night goes. On the plus side, she did go to sleep within 15mins this time. Hmmmm curiouser and curiouser  ;)

I totally forgot to ask how your EW were going Zoe, sorry! Any better? X

Fingers crossed she will give u a 12 hour night then you can work on a better start to the day. I honestly gave up with CN after a couple of weeks mainly refusing it.
I reckon I'll never work my LO out lol like u say curiouser!!
We've had a couple if 6.40am bliss and I can see 2 molars so fingers crossed we get a couple more decent WU as defo made naps and BT less of a battle x

Morning! Well we got 12hrs  :D wu at 6.30 ish I think! Now I don't know how that happened. The only things that were different was a longer A before BT and it's not sunny here this morning. (She has a blackout blind but the sun comes up right outside her window and gets in the sides!) At least we can reset and go for a decent BT tonight. What's the betting she gives me a rubbish nap today to throw it all off  ;). Ever the pessimist!

She has developed dark circles under her eyes though over the last few days? Is that a sign of tiredness dyk? Ta x

Fx those teeth stop giving your LO trouble soon. Pesky teeth!

Hiya, had a 2 nap days as I think I got her A's wrong and messed everything up! That coupled with a very busy family get together on Sunday, I think we've just caught up!

I just saw postings about 20odd month old routines and I'm not far off that myself!! Am I doing something a little too crazy?

Today was: wu 5.45
Up 6.15
A 6hrs from wu/5.5hrs from get up
S 2hrs 20mins
A 4.5hrs
BT 6.40, amazingly asleep in 10 mins for the first time in ages!! (I did plan for her to be in bed at 6.20 but DH is home and bath time seems to take longer!)

Technically I know that's a long day, but I'm trying to work things from get up rather than wu if that makes sense? More like a set nap route I suppose.

The  other day we did:

Wu 5.30
Get up 6.15
A 5.5hrs from wu/5hrs from get up
S 11.30-12.40
A
S tried for a nap at 3.30pm.. Refused.
A
BT 6pm, asleep 6.20.

Awake next morning at 5  ::) so 2 nap day that day. Car nap at 9 for 20 mins, 4.75A for 1.5hr nap. Then today is today!

I know I shouldn't be looking at other routines too much and over analysing, but when I see lo's who are double DD's age and are on the same/similar routine, I worry I'm doing something horrendously wrong!

I really think a lot is down to what works for you, my DS at your LO age was doing nap 11am uncapped then CN 4-4.30 but it did change when got CN refusals which just happened overnight for from 13 months we were on 1 nap end of! If your getting better nights, no OT mess on 1 nap with the odd catch up CN in there then stick with what works for you.

Thanks for the reassurance Zoe, much appreciated. She is sooo much better one one nap than two and lots happier when she wakes up from a lovely long nap as well.

Onwards and upwards they say, but if we end up going through the 1-0 at 15mo or something ridiculous I might end up losing the plot  ;)

Thanks again hun xx

Well I may have jinxed it. We had the strangest night ever. Great sleep until around 11.30, brief wu, needed me to give her back her lovey, then 45-1hr later a long chatty NW?? Escalated after a while and took a few attempts as wi/wo and ssh/pat. Total wake time was 45mins + I think. Wu 6.10.

Have you had this before? I thought chatty NW were UT? But that can't be possible on the day she had yesterday can it?? Oh, this bubba does like to test me, I'm completely and utterly stumped now.

Oh dear but yes numerous times, I generally put NW down do developmental if happy and teeth if not these days.
There is a wonder week around their first birthday so it could be that as well x
