anyone else's lo does this?
« on: June 19, 2014, 14:10:17 pm »
Hello...my ds is 13 months....and he has starting doing this lately..he usually gets 12hrs of sleep at night and then also naps for abt 2hours arnd afternoon....the bedtimes and wakeup times are always different...so when I go into his room when he wakes up, I usually give him a bottle and he drinks about 6 ounces and dozes off to sleep for another 1 to 1.5hrs...that would push nap and bedtime even later...btw i still dreamfeed around 10pm and he drinks about 4 ounces....he shdnt b hungry in the morning since he eats three meals a day and gets all his milk..

does anyone else's lo does that?any suggestions please...thanks in advance....

Are you giving him a bottle in the morning ie 6.30-7am or more like at a NW/EW 4.30-5am...

Can you post the last few days? I'm not sure what you mean with his night sleep sorry :-*

He always drinks a bottle first thing in the morning....not a night waking..its in the morning when he wakes up....and since last few days when I go in his room he is usually awake and I give him his regular bottle but he dozes off again....although he sleeps thru the night

If you could post the timings of sleep and feeds in EAS format for the last couple of days that will help us answer your questions.

I would get him up after a full night sleep (11-12 hrs) and give the bottle once up for the day OR ditch it completely.

He's sleeping too much at night which is affecting his day yk?

Id get him up for the day but then he is constantly rubbing his eyes like he is sleepy....not whining or crying...I just thought its weird that he would still be tired after 11 to 12 hrs of solid sleep :o...

How much food does he eat? - could his iron levels be an issue?

Mmm ok well teething can make los tired or grumpy. Id suggest getting him up at 7 or so for a week and seeing if he adjusts. Sometimes they act tired because their body is used to sleeping at that time.

something like this could wk for him
wu 7
Nap 11 for a few hrs or up to 3 hrs
bt 7

What do you think

Perhaps the nap needs capping, it's quite long. Leaving it this long means he's not ready to go to sleep at a reasonable BT and so at 7am he is actually tired. Sort of a UT/OT loop, but one he is coping with by making his day progressively later. I would suggest capping the nap the a maximum of two hours and waking him at 7am for a few days and seeing if that helps.

It could be a teething thing making him more tired but with this much sleep he's making it almost a 26 hour day. I think you need to help him gently back into a day with 24 hours in it.
