Hi again

So a bit of background-at lo 2yr growth/developmental we started getting EW (about 22months) we cut nap to 1.5hrs and this did help for a bit then we started to get the EW again coupled with chattering going to sleep sometimes till 9pm the up at 5:30.
This last week I decided to follow his ques and he had 4 days of 2hr naps and 11hr night (much happier boy) then weds (after nursery and swimming) he chatted at BT till 8:30-was up at 5:45, so I gave him a 2hr nap again as was up so early, chatted again till 8:30 up at 5:30 again 2hr nap next day chatted till 8 and up at 6:20! :)  (Oh dud 12:30 naps this wk too to give longer for catch up)
But then today MIL popped in today super loud shouting and woke him up after 1hr (I had put him down at 1-thinking nap needs to go a little later/shorter)
But even with the 1 hour nap-I did BT at 6:30 because of it-he's still nattering away.
I feel really lost as to why he's doing what he's doing-I think he chatters when OT at BT, just don't know where to go with it, feel lost.
I just want to help him sleep

How old is he now?
Where is he at with teeth? Molars/canines?

Is his total sleep in 24 usually 12.5/13 hrs or more/less when not in a developmental blip?

Thanks for reply
He's a wk off 26 months-can't see any evidence if teeth. Before this blip he was doing 2 hr nap and 11ish at night. But then in blip some nights have been as short as 9hrs!
He's a proper cherry chap so OT is hard to spot and I think he get OS/OT quite easily. Thanks x

We had lots of BT chatting from our LO1 around that age.  I tweaked and monitored, and generally tore my hair out, but it responded to nothing, and finally just stopped.  I think it was developmental, something to do with processing his day.  As long as he is happy in his cot chatting to himself, I wouldn't intervene too much, and I would stick with his routine.

If you talk to non-BWers about this, they will tell you to drop the nap, I would bet.  But he probably still needs it.  It does sound like he is sensitive to stimulation, so maybe plan to have active mornings and quiet afternoons?

Thanks, yes was gonna look at a longer wind down pre bed to chill him out more-he does it more after a busy pm-ie we went to beach yest and when we went swimming was chattering for ages!!
I wouldn't dream of dropping nap yet-he loves his nap! I think you're right- he's quite happy chatting not crying etc so I need to try and chill stop tweaking!! And let him be! Thanks xx

I agree, he probably still needs that nap, but 2 hrs :-\ you may want to cap the nap at 1.5 for a week and keep bt the same and see if thus tootle bit more as time helps the nights.

Actually, having said that, we had the same issue of chattering and shinnanegans at that age too, now I think of it. We started putting music on and he still goes to bed listening to it. He just needs a lot of time to wind down. We also try to remember to talk through his day and pray before bed, as well as stories etc. basically a big WD.

So after outer EW 5:45 I put him down for a nap at 12:30 asleep by 12:40 was gonna let him sleep for two hours to catch up-but he woke screaming after 1.10mins :( so I assumed OT/put him down too early... Then did v diff BT routine all in his room (not his bros) and although he asked for extra cuddles and did a couple of shouts-he was asleep by 6:45, a perfect 13hr day..., what does this mean??? He was knackered or the 13 hr day and shorted nap worked??? Confused.com! I guess our WU will indicate tomorrow.... Any thoughts? Cx

The screaming sounds like teething? - what do you think?
Given the day I think you did a good bt. Fx he sleeps overnight for you x
