Food times for 8mth old
« on: June 24, 2014, 13:56:58 pm »
My dd is 8mths today. She's been eating small amounts of solids since 6mths.

She's not overly fussed on eating so we just take our time.

At the moment she might wake few times during the night for a quick breastfeed. She's always done this.

Here's her routine:

8am:She might have half a weetabix in the morning
11-12pmLunch 4 ice cubes of sweet potatoe and veg
5pmTea small bit of baby rice

Should she be eating more or is it ok to take it slow ? Also are her feeding times ok?

Many thanks x
.

It's fine to take it slowly and follow her lead :)
I'm assuming she is still having all her milk feeds in the day, the times of the solids look fine but if feel anything isn't going as smoothly as you might hope then perhaps post your milk times and any specific difficulties you're having.
I would probably skip the rice in favour of something a bit more nutritious as rice doesn't offer a great deal unless it's a fortified cereal.
She might also like to try some finger foods now if you haven't already introduced them.  Maybe at tea time you could offer her something that you are having, just one piece and see how she likes it.

Thanks very much. Yes she eats tiny pieces of soft fruit now and again and trying her with few different things. Thanks for your reply. X

No problem.
With the finger food she may find it easier with larger pieces, the size of an adult finger for example. This gives enough length for her to hold it in her hand with a piece sticking out the top which she can bring to her mouth. Smaller pieces can be trickier to control.
