Would you PLEASE let me know what I'm doing wrong
« on: June 24, 2014, 18:52:53 pm »
My DS is 12.5mo and I've been trying to transition him to one nap a day for the past week or so. He was never a good napper. When he had 2 naps a day, he would sleep for 1hr20m in the AM and 30min in the PM. As the result, his BT was getting later and later. And there were times he was refusing his PM nap. I thought it was time to transition him to one nap hoping that he would nap longer. Even after I transitioned him to one nap, he has never napped longer than 1hr30m.

His current EASY is as follows:
700 - WU & milk
715 - Breakfast
1200 - Lunch
1230 - nap
145 - WU
200 - milk
500 - Dinner
630 - bedtime routine, bottle
700 - BT

Thank you in advance for your time and advice.

Hi, just wondering what the problem is with the above EASY? Is he sleeping through the night? LJ is 3 now so it's been a while but looks good to me. Sure someone with more experience will be along soon. Xxx

He is sleeping through the night for the most part. He would wake up from time to time but he was not crying and he fell back asleep on his own usually in less than an hour. It seems that every toddlers I know will nap for 2-3 hours and I'm struggling (really struggling!) to get him to nap longer than 1.5hr  ???

It can take a while for the long naps to kick in but some kids have lower sleep needs and therefore sleep less. Your day looks good so unless you start getting OT behaviour I'd stick with it and see if they lengthen and combat any OT with a slightly earlier BT if you need to.
My LO didn't really go for the 2 hour naps until about 16/18 months and then some days would be less than others!!

Haribo2012 - Thank you for your reply and reassurance that I'm not doing anything wrong. Because no matter what I did, he just would not nap longer than 1.5hr. I'd stick with it for the time being and hoping that long naps will come soon.  :)

If LO is happy and sleeping well at night it sounds like you have it sorted for now  :)
