I gave her formula
« on: June 25, 2014, 21:48:32 pm »
That's it really. :-\
I gave her formula. And I feel a little weird about it.part of me is so relieved that she took it and that I will no longer have sole responsibility for her milk needs, but an equal part of me is a little sad for the exact same reasons.... :-\ what am i like?!
I'm still doing 3 BFs a day but my frozen supply was running very low for her 2 bottle feeds so the time had come to introduce it....my head knows that but my heart is realising that this is the beginning of the end for our BFing journey.... :'(

I was terrified of giving Juniper formula, but BF-ing wasn't working for me.
It was like magic when she took it and it made our live so much easier. In the end, it was the right move.
Good for you for doing whats best for you and the LO. :)

Oh, I know exactly how you are feeling, hugs to you!!

It is a really weird feeling the first time you give formula, I cried!! :(  Like you and PP it just wasnt working for us due to extreme stress as my husband had an accident at work when DD was 3 weeks old. Slowly I began to lose my supply and DD was so upset all the time. I tried everything but then gave her a formula bottle and she was a different baby!! That was the decision made. Do try to keep at least one BF, that is my only regret.

It is a very sad and guilty feeling and just know that when you do stop breastfeeding or cut down your hormones might change a bit and you may feel even more upset or depressed. But that will go away. I found I could enjoy my DD sooooo much more not having to worry about how much she was getting. She is now an extremely happy, healthy and beautiful 7.5 month old.

Breastfeeding is such a hard job, I didnt realise how hard and whatever you can give your LO is great  :)

Hugs x

(((Hugs))), hon... the end of a BFing journey is never easy.  Savor the time, those 3 feeds could still last awhile. :-* :-*

Mixed feeding could well continue for you and LO for some time, hon.
I well remember the feeling when both my boys weaned (DS1 due to pregnancy of DS2, and DS2 just because).  It truly is a grieving process and needs to be thought of as that.  It is such an intimate thing that you do, and it truly affects your hormones.  Consequently you will have big emotional ties to it, and need to grieve it.
Some (((BTDT Hugs))) for you.

Hugs hun, I've had to introduce formula at 7mos when I was back to work and G is still a boob addict. She still BFs at BT and during the night. I'm pleased that we still have that but the formula is handy too and, unlike C, G will let me give her a bottle too now so that's quite nice as well. We snuggle on the sofa and watch TV while she has it. Xxx

Hugs happy. I know that feeling from L when I introduced one formula feed at about 10 mos

Three bfs per day is still lots and no reason you can't continue BFing as long as you want. After introducing that one ff with L at 10 mos, I didn't completely stop BFing until 18 mos

To many DH's the act of feeding a baby is just that.  You are feeding the baby.  Never mind the hormones that are involved, and (for me anyway) that feeling of having the ability to be able to soothe and nourish my child no matter where or when with no need for any 'tools' like bottles.

Even women who haven't BF don't have that 100% understanding.  They have a much better understanding than men though.

Ugh, I hear your frustration with DH not "getting" it.
When I stopped BFing in my first son - he hadn't a clue of the physical pain and the hormonal roller coaster...even when I tried to explain...
I'm still BFing my Little Man at 11 months and he has suggested stopping on a couple of occasions. As I've said to him, since I'm the one who *does* the job, I get to choose *how* I do that job...& I choose BFing!!!

Ugh.....I just gave her a formula bottle at bedtime. First time.
Having huge doubts. She woke after 45 minutes and it took me.ages to settle her back. V v v v rare for that to happen. Ugh.

Very unsettled. But she didn't need me. Poor pet has a rotten runny nose and was fairly miserable until after a mammoth nap so am hoping we won't pay for it tonight. Here giving her a bottle....And trying not to care. ....
