Any ideas? EW
« on: June 26, 2014, 05:49:14 am »
Audrey's mornings are getting earlier, she's tired and her behaviour is suffering. She dropped the nap months ago. Normal day is wake up 7-7.30 (I often have to wake her), asleep for the night by 6.30. I think an earlier bed would be better but tbh I struggle to organise dinner (we eat as a family) before 5.30 so hard to get her to bed before 6.15.

The last week she has been waking gradually earlier and earlier. She has a Groclock and stays relatively quiet but still usually wakes up Stan (they share a room) and me. Just with singing, chatting, kicking the cot etc. Then she's shattered all day.

Yesterday she was so tired, I gave her a short nap just 45 mins. She went to sleep easily at 7.30 - usually, even a short naps means shell be awake until 8.30 at least. But then awake at 5.45 this morning. ???

The room is blacked out but they have the door open just a couple of inches. She's got all her teeth.

Not btdt as R still naps, but do you think it could be developmental - is A nearly 3?

Is she dry at night? Could it be something like she's peeing in her nappy and it wakes her as she's now aware of that bodily function, or if she's not wearing one could she need to go but not enough to call you?

Are there any external noises at that time? Bins/milkman?

No external noise at that time - their bedroom faces the back anyway. I wondered about the wee thing too, although she's been dry at night for months and months and only EW for a week or two. To test it anyway last night I picked her up and put her on her potty for a wee at midnight (so she'd be less needing to go in the morning), but she woke even earlier this morning.

Throwing a thought out there.....feel free to throw it back :P

How long has she not been napping? If it's a good 3-4 mths she could be regulating and started we from ut, which is now OT :-\

Z did this....he went no nap around Xmas and was doing 13 hr nights. Sometimes more. But then as he regulated and got used to it he started EW, then I'd do EBT and EW. Then he would eventually pull a long cu one ::) after a good cu night we pushed him out so he was doing a 11.5-12 hr day and boom....he started sleeping 12-12.5 hrs again. His overall SN had dropped.

This said.....Z was much older when dropping the nap

I guess a later bedtime is the only thing left to try really. It's hard because she's so tired and tearful by the end of the day, and bedtime is a HUGE fight.

Oh I was going to go the other way from Sara and suggest an ebt to help dd cu. Could she have an earlier tea than the rest of you for one night and ebt of 5.45 (asleep for) if she still has ew of  5.45 at least she's had a full nights sleep and a better chance of pushing BT fwd without accumulating more ot???

OK I can do early tea for her tonight, and early bed (as long as the childminder doesn't let her sneak a cheeky nap, which happens more often than I'm happy with  ::) ). How early do we think, asleep for 5.45? And then tomorrow hopefully she sleeps past 6am and then bedtime tomorrow of, what, 7pm?

Well that's not gone well. She was in bed at 5.40, it's now 6.20 and she's still chatting away. Usually she is out like a light.
